Das Thema meiner Arbeit zeichnete sich für mich anfangs lediglich als eine Art These aus. Es ging mir hierbei um die Frage, ob und in wie weit überhaupt ein Zusammenhang zwischen einer Vernachlässigung der Gesundheitsvorsorge in sozial benachteiligten Familien, im Bezug auf den Zusammenhang zwischen Armut und Gesundheit in Lebenssituationen von Kindern und Säuglingen besteht. In den letzten Jahren hat das Interesse am Thema „soziale Ungleichheit und Gesundheit“ an Gewicht zugenommen. Sogar in der heutigen gesundheitspolitischen Diskussion, wird immer wieder die Frage gestellt, ob und wenn ja, warum Personen aus der unteren sozialen Schicht einen besonders schlechten Gesundheitszustand aufweisen. Auch die Frage danach, was dagegen unternommen werden kann, auch im Bezug auf die Soziale Arbeit, möchte ich im Verlauf meiner Arbeit ansprechen.

He investigates the social, economic, and political status of women in West Germany after World War II to reveal how the West Germans, emerging from the rubble of the Third Reich, viewed a reconsideration of gender relations as an essential part of social reconstruction. The debate over "woman's place" in the fifties was part of West Germany's confrontation with the ideological legacy of National Socialism. Applying combinations of these policy options alongside effective governance for health equity should enable WHO European Region Member States to reduce health inequities and synergize efforts to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Book excerpt: In September 2018 the criminal law section of the 72nd Deutscher Juristentag (DJT, “German Assembly of Jurists”) debated the question “Sentencing Guidelines vs. Free Judicial Discretion – Is German Sentencing Law in Need of Reform?” Despite the expert opinion provided by Johannes Kaspar and the accompanying scholarly commentaries, ensuing proposals for fundamental reform met with rejection. The comparative perspective was limited to the US Federal sentencing guidelines. The intention of this volume is therefore, on the one hand, to draw a more nuanced picture of Anglo-American sentencing law focusing on three legal systems (England/Wales, USA and Canada) accompanied by commentaries from a German perspective; on the other hand, we want to make the German perspective (better) known within the Anglo-American legal world by reproducing important DJT documents in English language.
