This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In general, distributed systems can be classified into Distributed File Systems (DFS) and Distributed Operating Systems (DOS). The survey which follows distinguishes be tween DFS approaches in Chapters 2-3, and DOS approaches in Chapters 4-5. Within DFS and DOS, I further distinguish "traditional" and object-oriented approaches. A traditional approach is one where processes are the active components in the systems and where the name space is hierarchically organized. In a centralized environment, UNIX would be a good example of a traditional approach. On the other hand, an object-oriented approach deals with objects in which all information is encapsulated. Some systems of importance do not fit into the DFS/DOS classification. I call these systems "closely related" and put them into Chapter 6. Chapter 7 contains a table of comparison. This table gives a lucid overview summarizing the information provided and allowing for quick access. The last chapter is added for the sake of completeness. It contains very brief descriptions of other related systems. These systems are of minor interest or do not provide transparency at all. Sometimes I had to assign a system to this chapter simply for lack of adequate information about it.

CHATONNAY and published by . This book was released on 1998 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: L'APPARITION DES SYSTEMES REPARTIS A OBJETS (SRO) POSE DE NOUVELLES QUESTIONS DANS LE DOMAINE DE L'EQUILIBRAGE DE CHARGE. QUELLES SONT LES DIFFERENCES MAJEURES, DU POINT DE VUE DE L'ALLOCATION DE RESSOURCES, ENTRE LES SYSTEMES A BASE DE PROCESSUS ET LES SRO ? LES OBJETS NE REALISENT UNE TACHE QUE PAR COOPERATION, COMMENT GERER CETTE INTERDEPENDANCE ? NOUS PROPOSONS D'APPORTER DES ELEMENTS DE REPONSES A CES QUESTIONS. NOUS ETUDIONS ET METTONS EN OEUVRE UNE STRATEGIE D'OPTIMISATION DE L'ALLOCATION DES RESSOURCES DANS UN SRO, SUR UN RESEAU LOCAL DE STATIONS DE TRAVAIL, DANS LE BUT D'OPTIMISER L'EXECUTION DES APPLICATIONS. NOUS PROPOSONS DE REALISER UN PLACEMENT DES CONSTITUANTS DES APPLICATIONS VIA UN PROCESSUS MULTICRITERE. CE PROCESSUS AGREGE DES INFORMATIONS CONCERNANT TROIS DIMENSIONS DE L'EXECUTION : - LA CHARGE DES SITES, DETERMINEE PAR L'OBSERVATION DES FILS D'EXECUTION LOCAUX A CHAQUE SITE. CE CRITERE EST DECRIT PAR L'ENSEMBLE DE LA COMMUNAUTE COMME PRIMORDIAL DANS LA RECHERCHE D'UNE OPTIMISATION. - LES DEPENDANCES ENTRE OBJETS INDUITES PAR LES CHEMINS D'INVOCATIONS VIA L'OBSERVATION DES COMMUNICATION ENTRE OBJETS. - DES CONTRAINTES ASSOCIEES A LA SEMANTIQUE DES APPLICATIONS. CES CONTRAINTES PERMETTENT DE PALLIEES A L'ANTAGONISME DES DEUX PRECEDENTS CRITERES. L'OBSERVATION DES COMMUNICATIONS EST REALISEE VIA UN MODELE PERMETTANT DE NOUS ABSTRAIRE DES EPIPHENOMENES ET PROPOSANT UNE PREDICTION DES TENDANCES DU SYSTEME. NOUS AVONS MIS EN OEUVRE NOTRE SOLUTION DANS LE SYSTEME REPARTI A OBJETS COOL V2. L'OBJECTIF DE CETTE IMPLEMENTATION EST LA VALIDATION DE L'APPROCHE RELATIONNELLE (PRISE EN COMPTE DES COMMUNICATIONS) POUR L'OPTIMISATION DE L'EXECUTION. NOUS UTILISONS UNE DEMARCHE DE TEST PERMETTANT DE MESURER L'IMPACT DE CHAQUE PARAMETRE SUR L'OPTIMISATION. LES RESULTATS QUE NOUS OBTENONS NOUS PERMETTE D'AFFIRMER LA COMPLEMENTARITE DE L'OPTIMISATION DES CHEMINS D'INVOCATION ET DE LA MINIMISATION DE LA CHARGE DES SITES POUR LES SYSTEMES REPARTIS A OBJETS.

Book excerpt: APRES UNE BREVE PRESENTATION DES BESOINS EN BUREAUTIQUE COMMUNICANTE ET DE L'ETAT DE L'ART DES SYSTEMES D'EXPLOITATION REPARTIS A OBJETS, SUIVIE DE LA DETERMINATION DES LIMITES DE LA PREMIERE VERSION DE NOTRE SYSTEME COOL, NOUS DEVELOPPERONS DANS CE MEMOIRE LES TECHNIQUES DE LOCALISATION, DE COMMUNICATION ET DE TRANSFERT D'INFORMATIONS STRUCTUREES A L'AIDE DE MECANISMES A OBJETS, DANS UN ENVIRONNEMENT HETEROGENE. PLUS PRECISEMENT, NOUS PROPOSONS LES CONCEPTS SUIVANTS COMME UNE REPONSE AUX DIFFICULTES DE COMMUNICATION EN MILIEU HETEROGENE: ? ELEMENTS D'IDENTIFICATION DANS CHAQUE OBJET, POUR STRUCTURER LA GESTION DES NOMS SYMBOLIQUES ET L'ADAPTER AUX ENVIRONNEMENTS REPARTIS ; ? OBJETS DE LIAISON, POUR ENCODER AUTOMATIQUEMENT L'ECHANGE DE DONNEES SOUS UN FORMAT NORMALISE ; ? OBJETS DE TRANSFERT, POUR LA MIGRATION D'OBJETS ET L'ENCODAGE DE LEUR COMPORTEMENT ; ? MEMOIRE DES OBJETS, POUR REALISER LA MIGRATION D'ACTIVITES. CE CONCEPT PEUT EGALEMENT SERVIR A LA VERIFICATION DYNAMIQUE DES DROITS ET ETRE UNE AIDE A LA RECUPERATION D'ESPACE MEMOIRE ; ? OBJETS D'INTERFACE ENTRE LOGICIELS ET SYSTEMES D'EXPLOITATION REPARTI, POUR GARANTIR LA COHERENCE DE COMPORTEMENT DES OBJETS MIGRANTS VIS A VIS DE CHACUN DES COMPOSANTS LOCAUX DU SYSTEME

Book excerpt: Earthen architecture constitutes one of the most diverse forms of cultural heritage and one of the most challenging to preserve. It dates from all periods and is found on all continents but is particularly prevalent in Africa, where it has been a building tradition for centuries. Sites range from ancestral cities in Mali to the palaces of Abomey in Benin, from monuments and mosques in Iran and Buddhist temples on the Silk Road to Spanish missions in California. This volume's sixty-four papers address such themes as earthen architecture in Mali, the conservation of living sites, local knowledge systems and intangible aspects, seismic and other natural forces, the conservation and management of archaeological sites, research advances, and training.

Book Synopsis The linguistic integration of adult migrants: from one country to another, from one language to another by : Council of Europe
Download or read book The linguistic integration of adult migrants: from one country to another, from one language to another written by Council of Europe and published by Council of Europe. This book was released on 2014-01-01 with total page 58 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The linguistic integration of migrants affects every aspect of settling in a new country (employment, health, etc.). The aim of this collection of texts is to propose a number of specific measures member states can take to help adult migrants become acquainted with the language of the host country. The main focus is on organising language courses that meet migrants’ real communication needs. It is not enough for authorities simply to consider the technical aspects of such courses, they should also design and conduct them in accordance with the fundamental values of the Council of Europe. A number of issues concerning the linguistic integration of adult migrants are presented here, beginning with the notion of linguistic integration itself. Family reunion, the nature of citizenship and the function of language tests, among others, are dealt with from the point of view of language and language use. Readers are invited to reflect on the type of language competences that need to be acquired as well as an appropriate use of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The collection also sets out approaches and instruments designed to assist in implementing effective policies.

Book Synopsis Immigration Regulation in Federal States by : Sasha Baglay
Download or read book Immigration Regulation in Federal States written by Sasha Baglay and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2014-03-18 with total page 252 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book examines the phenomenon of immigration federalism: its main characteristics, why and how it has developed, its implications for immigration systems (in general) and non-citizens’ rights (in particular). The book introduces the reader to theoretical perspectives on immigration federalism through three sets of literature – federalism, governance and non-citizens’ rights – that provide a necessary framework for understanding immigration federalism’s multiple facets and impacts. It also offers an analysis of immigration federalism through case studies of six jurisdictions: Australia, Canada, Germany, Switzerland, the EU and the US. Despite increased sub-national activity in immigration regulation in several federal states, very little research has been dedicated so far to comparing how federal states deal with immigration federalism. Comparative studies on the human rights implications of immigration federalism have received even less attention. This book seeks to fill the gap in this area and is an important contribution to the field, providing the reader with a better understanding of the complex issues surrounding immigration federalism and its impact on non-citizens.
