Book Synopsis Turbulent Boundary-layer Temperature Recovery Factors in Two-dimensional Supersonic Flow by : Maurice Tucker
Download or read book Turbulent Boundary-layer Temperature Recovery Factors in Two-dimensional Supersonic Flow written by Maurice Tucker and published by . This book was released on 1951 with total page 686 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An analytical method is presented for obtaining turbulent temperature recovery factors for a thermally insulated surface in supersonic flow. The method is an extension of Squire's analysis for incompressible flow. The boundary layer velocity profile is represented by a power law and a similarity is postulated for squared-velocity the static-temperature-difference profiles.

Book Synopsis Two-dimensional Flow on General Surfaces of Revolution in Turbomachines by : John D. Stanitz
Download or read book Two-dimensional Flow on General Surfaces of Revolution in Turbomachines written by John D. Stanitz and published by . This book was released on 1952 with total page 734 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A method of analysis is developed for two dimensional flow on general surfaces of revolution in turbomachines with arbitrary blade shapes. The method of analysis is developed for steady, compressible, nonviscous, irrotational flow that is assumed uniform normal to the surfaces of revolution. Incompressible solutions on a mean surface of revolution between the hub and shroud are presented for four rates through each of two centrifugal impellers with the same hub-shroud contours but with different blade spacings. In addition, correlation equations are developed whereby the velocity components and the stream function distribution can be predicted for compressible or incompressible flow in straight-blade impellers only, with any tip speed, flow rate, area variation, blade spacing, and for any flow surface of revolution.

Book Synopsis Modelling of Convective Heat and Mass Transfer in Rotating Flows by : Igor V. Shevchuk
Download or read book Modelling of Convective Heat and Mass Transfer in Rotating Flows written by Igor V. Shevchuk and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-07-24 with total page 235 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph presents results of the analytical and numerical modeling of convective heat and mass transfer in different rotating flows caused by (i) system rotation, (ii) swirl flows due to swirl generators, and (iii) surface curvature in turns and bends. Volume forces (i.e. centrifugal and Coriolis forces), which influence the flow pattern, emerge in all of these rotating flows. The main part of this work deals with rotating flows caused by system rotation, which includes several rotating-disk configurations and straight pipes rotating about a parallel axis. Swirl flows are studied in some of the configurations mentioned above. Curvilinear flows are investigated in different geometries of two-pass ribbed and smooth channels with 180° bends. The author demonstrates that the complex phenomena of fluid flow and convective heat transfer in rotating flows can be successfully simulated using not only the universal CFD methodology, but in certain cases by means of the integral methods, self-similar and analytical solutions. The book will be a valuable read for research experts and practitioners in the field of heat and mass transfer.

Book Synopsis Turbulent Boundary Layer on a Yawed Cone in a Supersonic Stream by : Willis H. Braun
Download or read book Turbulent Boundary Layer on a Yawed Cone in a Supersonic Stream written by Willis H. Braun and published by . This book was released on 1959 with total page 28 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The momentum integral equations are derived for the boundary layer on an arbitrary curved surface, using a streamline coordinate system. Computations of the turbulent boundary layer on a slightly yawed cone are made for a Prandtl number of 0.729, wall to free-stream temperature ratios of 1/2, 1, and 2, and Mach numbers from 1 to 4. Deflection of the fluid in the boundary layer from outer stream direction, local friction coefficient, displacement surface, lift coefficient, and pitching-moment coefficient are presented.
