Book Synopsis A Textbook of General Embryology (Classic Reprint) by : William E. Kellicott

This book was released on 2017-10-13 with total page 386 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A Textbook of General Embryology General embryology should occupy an important place in the collegiate study of biology. In no other connection are the essential phenomena of life better illustrated, in no other form are they more readily appreciated. The facts of embryology lead directly to the great problems of the science of biology as it exists to-day, and many fundamental biological conceptions either are directly connected with, or are illuminated by, the study of the early phenomena of individual development. The author's experience has clearly indicated that the subject has this value as a collegiate study. Indeed, the book is the direct outgrowth of such experience, and it has, in substance, been in use as such a text for several years. In its present form it is hoped that it will be found useful to the student who is endeavoring to comprehend the general principles of the science of life, as well as to the student preparing for the professional study of some field of biology or of medicine. Its design as a textbook, rather than as a handbook, accounts for certain characteristics. The topics considered have through out been approached from the standpoint of their general biological relations, and in the selection of the facts mentioned and the topics discussed, as well as in the style and method of presentation, the student has been first in mind. The arrange ment of the subject matter in two sizes of type may prove useful for those undertaking a brief course. In a few instances this has involved slight repetition, but repetition is not always a pedagogic evil. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book Synopsis Clinical Embryology by : Robert Carachi
Download or read book Clinical Embryology written by Robert Carachi and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-05-07 with total page 497 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This comprehensive atlas is unique in combining information on the embryological development of the human with detailed presentation of the congenital malformations encountered in clinical practice. As a consequence it will not only assist practitioners and trainees in recognizing and evaluating malformations, but also enable them to understand how a malformation has developed and to explain the mystery of congenital malformations to relatives and patients. The book is organized according to anatomic region, with additional chapters on hernias, tumors, lymphogenesis and lymphatic malformations. According to WHO statistics, each year congenital anomalies result in approximately 3.2 million birth defect-related disabilities worldwide. All too often, however, training in embryology is now a neglected area, and medical graduates frequently lack confidence in their knowledge of the field. Clinical Embryology: An Atlas of Congenital Malformations will help to rectify this deficit and to ensure that malformations are comprehended and managed appropriately. It will be of value for postgraduate trainees in pediatric surgery, pediatrics, and neonatology, undergraduate medical students, and general practitioners/family physicians.

Book Synopsis Introduction to Molecular Embryology by : Jean Brachet
Download or read book Introduction to Molecular Embryology written by Jean Brachet and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nearly 10 years have elapsed since I finished writing the first edition of Intro duction to Molecular Embryology. During this period, molecular embryology has made great strides forward, but without undergoing a major revolution; there fore, the general philosophy and outline of the book have remained almost un changed. However, all the chapters had to be almost completely rewritten in or der to introduce new facts and to eliminate findings which have lost interest or have been disproved. There was a major gap in the first edition of this book: very little was said about mammalian eggs despite their obvious interest for mankind. Research on mammalian eggs and embryos is so active today that this important topic deserves a full chapter in a book concerned with molecular embryology. Therefore, I am very thankful to my colleague Dr. Henri Alexandre, who has written a chapter on mammalian embryology (Chap. 9) and has prepared all the illustrations for this book.
