Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Gas Engineer's Laboratory Handbook The object of this volume, as its title implies, is to describe the various analytical operations which are required in Gas works. In order to make it useful to those who may not have the Opportunity of access to other works on analysis, the general operations incidental to the carrying out of analytical operations are described in detail, and further, as a means of assisting those who are dependent on self study, the methods of analysing certain substances obtainable in a perfectly pure state, and consequently having an established composition, are minutely described; these examples are chosen, as being typical of the more commonly occurring analyses required in Gasworks, as they involve the same methods of manipulation. By comparing the results obtained in the analysis of these simple substances with the figures demanded by theory, the operator can satisfy himself as to his competency to perform the same operations when they occur in the estimations required in his daily work. For example, the analysis of barium chloride serves as a type of the methods of manipulation necessary in the determination of sulphur in coal, coke, and gas, and in ascertaining the accuracy of the solutions employed in the Referees' Ammonia Test, &0. The estimation of calcium serves as a type of the analysis of lime; and so on. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Gas Well Testing Handbook deals exclusively with theory and practice of gas well testing, pressure transient analysis techniques, and analytical methods required to interpret well behavior in a given reservoir and evaluate reservoir quality, simulation efforts, and forecast producing capacity. A highly practical edition, this book is written for graduate students, reservoir/simulation engineers, technologists, geologists, geophysicists, and technical managers. The author draws from his extensive experience in reservoir/simulation, well testing, PVT analysis basics, and production operations from around the world and provides the reader with a thorough understanding of gas well test analysis basics. The main emphasis is on practical field application, where over 100 field examples are resented to illustrate basic methods for analysis. Simple solutions to the diffusivity equation are discussed and their physical meanings examined. Each chapter focuses in how to use the information gained in well testing to make engineering and economic decisions, and an overview of the current research models and their equations are discussed in relation to gas wells, homogenous, heterogeneous, naturally and hydraulically fractured reservoirs. Handy, portable reference with thousands of equations and procedures There is currently no other reference or handbook on the market that focuses only on gas well testing Offers "one stop shopping" for the drilling and reservoir engineer on gas well testing issues

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This new volume, Design and Construction of Laboratory Gas Pipelines: A Practical Reference for Engineers and Professionals, focuses on design and installation of laboratory gas pipelines. It instructs design engineers, laboratory managers, and installation technicians on how to source the information and specifications they require for the design and installation of laboratory gas systems suitable for their intended use. The current use of specifications predominantly taken from medical gas standards for this type of work is not always suitable; these standards are for use with medical grade gases that have a purity level of 99.5%. The purity levels required in laboratories, however, start at 99.9% for general industrial use through to 99.9995% (Ultra High Purity (UHP)) and higher. Regular medical gas standards are also unsuitable for use with the oxidizing, flammable, and, in some instances, toxic gases that are regularly encountered in laboratories. As need for gas purity increases, the methodology used to design a piping system must vary to meet those parameters, and this reference provides the necessary information and resources. There are no comprehensive single sources of technical references currently available in this market, states the author, and the generally supplied specifications provided to the construction industry are usually generic and not specifically targeted for the gases in use. The results provide extremely poor quality designs and, in some instances, unusable systems. With over 40 years of specialization in the industry from project management to systems design, testing, and commissioning of projects with values in excess of $15 million, the author comprehensively fills that gap with this rich resource. Key features • provides information on types of laboratories that use laboratory gases and the equipment needed • explains the various methods of construction and the materials used to ensure that the purity of the gases remains as supplied from the manufacturers • incorporates the design methodology used to meet the various requirements of the laboratory and the information required to ensure that the correct engineering is provided • presents information on the purity levels of the gases and the data on the equipment used for pipelines and compatibility issues • presents an example of a simple laboratory gas specification that provides guidelines on the information necessary to provide a set of design documents
