Book excerpt: Alfie Fury is a genius, book worm and neat student. He is successful at highschool and always carries the book 1984 by George ORWELL with him. But, it doesn't go well with his family. He thinks it is a good idea to have the university education in another city in order to get away from his family because he wakes up to a morning of hatred everyday at home. He begins a new education life at the branch of physics and chemistry in California University due to his love of science. His years at university pass in poverty and he only has one friend, and also a British old friend whom he remembers sometimes and misses so much. He applies for jobs to some science institutions for earning his life at his university years but when he gets refused, he comes across a hot dog seller coincidentally and starts to work for him. Besides all, his biggest mistake is to mess with an illegal gumbling gang. He learns on the phone that his brother who was on duty in the army is dead and goes back to West Virginia, to where he never wanted to go back. Later, he falls in love with his new neighbour Valerie, whom he has seen for the first time in the garden in his life. Valerie is his first love in the life. He notices that his poor mother Sarah is still a worker at a textile factory, his brother has achieved nothing in his life yet and his quarrelsome father Micheal is still a drunk during the time he is home. He thinks he is right again and starts to develop intimacy with his love. This becomes possible due to Valerie's artist personality and Alfie's fondness to art. After a time, Alfie learns the truth from a colonel at the military service. He is told that his father was an old agent and his brother died in Turkey for special-ops. The colonel tells him that his family is in trouble with the Turks. Alfie turns to be a murderer in the chain of events for the sake of protecting the people who he loves both from the Turks and the gambling gang and he murders other people. Then, he begins to feel pleasure of that. He lastly murders his father and finally gets arrested owing to Valerie's betrayal after witnessing the murder. He gets judged and sentenced to execution by the electric chair. The execution is delayed for a week due to Alfie's confessions and he gets some time. He takes the advantage of his devilish mind in the jail and escapes from prison. Oddly, this becomes possible with his murdering another prisoner there. He's gone to England. He lives in a hotel room for a while. However, he can make us feel that he is insomniac. At last, he leaves the hotel room and decides to visit his English old friend. The prison-breaker, murderer, Alfie Fury disguises himself and steps forward to London streets. He finds out that his old friend passed away a short time ago. Both since he is bored of the police after him and his only love Valerie, who betrayed him, occurs in his head, he turns his route back to West Virginia city from where he wanted to stay away throughout his life. He gets caught by the police in front of Valerie's door but insists on not coming before seeing Valerie. Atfer seeing her, he tells his last words and commits a suicide by his own gun. Briefly, this is the story of Alfie Fury, who was world's most ordinary and quiet but genius man, his losing everything due to the urge of prorecting the people he loves and his wish to death because of endless family quarrels apart from his lover's betrayal.

Participation is not an option, and success doesn’t necessarily guarantee safety. The Forgotten God II: Quest for Vengeance follows Neville, who was granted immortality, but is sent to perish in Tartarus because he knows too much about Lord Dagos. After being betrayed by the fearful Dagos, Neville realizes he must escape Tartarus. He vows to find the lord and kill him. He meets an array of people who aid him on his journey to remove his enemy. If Neville thought the opponents he faced when freeing Dagos were tough, he’s in for a surprise on this new mission. Titans walk the earth; giant sea creatures rule the ocean; and Kronos the King of the Titans has been released. Will Neville succeed and defeat the powerful Lord Dagos? There is only one way to find out.

High Lady Ordalf wanted her niece, the princess known as the Rose of Sarifal, dead. Instead, the young regent was secreted away by the high lady’s opponents. For years the eladrin queen of Gwynneth Isle has searched for evidence of her niece’s death, and word has finally come in the form of a castaway’s tale. The princess lives on the island of Moray—a mad beauty who leads a nation of lycanthropes. As long as her niece is alive, Lady Ordalf cannot rest secure in her claim to the throne. Enlisting a band of adventurers to seek out the princess is the first step toward stemming the Rose of Sarifal and her tide of wolves. Will those heroes see the same threat the queen sees in the beautiful young maiden?

Book excerpt: The poetry of Yonah Wollach has immensely surprised and equally moved its target audience with its exceedingly provocative themes and tempestuous style. She writes about erotic love, sexual lust, legendary figures, untamed desires, unbridled poetic proclivities, wild, and assertive sensual inclinations. Although her poetry seems to echo previous Hebrew/Israeli poets, such as Dalia Ravikovich and David Avidan, its spectacular originality is beyond doubt. Yonah Wollach, who died in her prime of life, has blazed a novel, innovative, daring, and aggressive trail in modern/contemporary Hebrew/Israeli poetry. Her poetry possesses the capacity to express tender, moving, fragile feelings in aesthetic patterns that reflect unbridled, unleashed violence . This anthology contains 45 poems by Yonah Wollach, translated from the Hebrew by the author.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The recent spatial turn in social theory and cultural studies opens up exciting new possibilities for the study of William Faulkner's literature. The fictional domains of Yoknapatawpha County and Jefferson, Mississippi, are not simply imagined communities but imaginative geographies of remarkable complexity and detail, as evidenced by the maps Faulkner created of his “apocryphal” county. Exploring the diverse functions of space in Faulkner's artistic vision, the eleven essays in Faulkner's Geographies delve deep into Yoknapatawpha but also reach beyond it to uncover unsuspected connections and flows linking local, regional, national, hemispheric, and global geographies in Faulkner's writings. Individual contributions examine the influence of the plantation as a land-use regime on Faulkner's imagination of north Mississippi's geography; the emergence of “micro-Souths” as a product of modern migratory patterns in the urban North of Faulkner's fiction; the enlistment of the author's work in the geopolitics of the cultural Cold War during the 1950s; the historical and literary affiliations between Faulkner's Deep South and Greater Mexico; the local and idiosyncratic as alternatives to region and nation; the unique intersection of regional and metropolitan geographies that Faulkner encountered as a novice writer immersed in the literary culture of New Orleans; the uses of feminist geography to trace the interplay of gender, space, and movement; and the circulation of Caribbean and “Black South” spaces and itineraries through Faulkner's masterpiece, Absalom, Absalom! By bringing new attention to the function of space, place, mapping, and movement in his literature, Faulkner's Geographies seeks to redraw the very boundaries of Faulkner studies.
