I saw only trouble and sorrow." Psalm 116:3 A compelling story of great tribulation, a story where God delivered Abigail out of darkness and brought healing and forgiveness. "It's attempted murder" said the District Surgeon. I couldn't focus, my body was sore and my head hurt from the vicious assault I endured a few hours before. My eyes were swollen and blue from the blows to my face. On my chest was the imprint of his shoe when he kicked me with brutal force outside the front door of my second floor flat. He continued assaulting me inside the flat and again hit me with such force my head crashed through the bedroom window...

Book excerpt: This is a book for these times. In an increasingly polarized world, many people face daily challenges and difficulties. When visited by the vicissitudes of life; they find it difficult to get up, push on and persevere. Their lives have become a seesaw characterized by suffering and sorrow, trials and tribulations, pain and purgatory on earth. Many are lost, most are driven to despair, desperation and desolation. Life loses its meaning; joy is squeezed out of all existence. Every day is another dance with torment and torture. Today is another date with the persecution chamber, and tomorrow a desolate and barren desert. Unaware that the wilderness is the birthing place of greatness, and devoid of any new ideas to escape the pain and suffering of today, the future looks bleak, and many have given up on life itself - and surrender too early to what they consider a hopeless and meaningless existence; perhaps out of embarrassment, fear and even shame. They lose sight of the hope and promise of tomorrow; and fail to understand that the darkest hour is before dawn; and that the sun will shine again in their lives!!This book is for them. Joseph's life story gives us hope - sold into slavery by the brothers he loved, accused of crimes he did not commit, sentenced to a jail and in the dungeons of Pharaoh in a foreign land, he remained diligent, principled, hopeful, joyous and kept his faith in the Living God. The story of Joseph is all at once a story of pain, suffering, rejection and denial. But it is also a story of hope, of promise for a better tomorrow, of survival and of perseverance and courage in the face of great struggle. More than anything else, it is a story of hope and unshakable faith in the promises of God; in the sanctity of his covenant; and in the glory that awaits his anointed. It is a story of triumph and redemption; of forgiveness and healing. It is a beautiful story that restores our hope in tomorrow, and tells us that the pit of today will make way for the palace of tomorrow; that the slave of today will become the Sire of tomorrow, and that the prisoner of today will become the prime minister of tomorrow. Success is inevitable!! This is a book for both the believer and the non-believer. It is a book that affirms that fidelity to the truth, a commitment to one's values and obedience to a God given vision will carry us through to triumph. May it bless you and may it light your path; hold the promise of peace, joy and prosperity for you tomorrow!

From the Pit to the Palace is a story of a young woman who knew God had more for her in this life. Unfortunately, because of her own stubbornness, the freedom that awaited her was delayed. With trial after trial, test after test, God never left my side. It wasn't until I fully surrendered my will for his plan that I began to experience freedom. This book will encourage and inspire readers to walk fully in the light of God, knowing that his word is true. "Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee" (Deuteronomy 31:6).

God made the first man to rule as king over all He created, only to see Adam’s reign end before it had barely begun. God knew all this and that’s why He sent the One True King, Jesus, to dwell with us and reclaim what Adam had lost, saving mankind from the penalty of sin. Bestselling author Gloria Furman makes this concept come alive for kids in this colorful and creative book comparing Adam, the archetype, with Christ, “the last Adam.” Children will learn that while Adam’s sin sentenced all of us to death, Jesus’s crucifixion and glorious resurrection restored the promise of eternal life for all those who believe in Him. Kids will be reassured that because Jesus is still on the throne, they can trust him whenever they feel sad or scared. There’s nothing that Christ their King can’t do for them!

These are statements that I’ve heard over and over working in ministry. In this book, I will show you that reading the Bible doesn’t have to be daunting or confusing. I’ll even show you that the Bible is extremely relevant today and just as much relevant now as it was when it was written to its original audience thousands of years ago. Over the course of this book, I will break down the Bible for you and show you how the books fit together chronologically. I’ll also explain to you some of the hidden truths that many people just skip right over while reading the Bible (things like the women who paid for Jesus’ bills). Trust me, stay on this ride and you will come out enthralled with God’s Word. The best thing about this book is whether you’ve read ten pages or one hundred pages you’ll be fascinated by the depth, wonder, and whimsy of the incredible book we call the Bible. If you stick with this, I promise you that the Bible will look very different to you. Not that I will be adding to or taking away from this God-breathed book, but that we will walk through the Bible in such a way that you’ll be able to grasp the flow of all the books. That's my goal. I wrote this with you in mind.

This book was released on 2015-03-25 with total page 1012 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Volume 28 Sermons 1637-1697 Charles Spurgeon (19 June 1834 – 31 January 1892) is one of the church’s most famous preachers and Christianity’s foremost prolific writers. Called the “Prince of Preachers,” he was one of England's most notable ministers for most of the second half of the nineteenth century, and he still remains highly influential among Christians of different denominations today. His sermons have spread all over the world, and his many printed works have been cherished classics for decades. In his lifetime, Spurgeon preached to more than 10 million people, often up to ten times each week. He was the pastor of the congregation of the New Park Street Chapel (later the Metropolitan Tabernacle) in London for 38 years. He was an inexhaustible author of various kinds of works including sermons, commentaries, an autobiography, as well as books on prayer, devotionals, magazines, poetry, hymns and more. Spurgeon was known to produce powerful sermons of penetrating thought and divine inspiration, and his oratory and writing skills held his audiences spellbound. Many Christians have discovered Spurgeon's messages to be among the best in Christian literature. Edward Walford wrote in Old and New London: Volume 6 (1878) quoting an article from the Times regarding one of Spurgeon’s meetings at Surrey: “Fancy a congregation consisting of 10,000 souls, streaming into the hall, mounting the galleries, humming, buzzing, and swarming—a mighty hive of bees—eager to secure at first the best places, and, at last, any place at all. After waiting more than half an hour—for if you wish to have a seat you must be there at least that space of time in advance—Mr. Spurgeon ascended his tribune. To the hum, and rush, and trampling of men, succeeded a low, concentrated thrill and murmur of devotion, which seemed to run at once, like an electric current, through the breast of every one present, and by this magnetic chain the preacher held us fast bound for about two hours. It is not my purpose to give a summary of his discourse. It is enough to say of his voice, that its power and volume are sufficient to reach every one in that vast assembly; of his language, that it is neither high-flown nor homely; of his style, that it is at times familiar, at times declamatory, but always happy, and often eloquent; of his doctrine, that neither the 'Calvinist' nor the 'Baptist' appears in the forefront of the battle which is waged by Mr. Spurgeon with relentless animosity, and with Gospel weapons, against irreligion, cant, hypocrisy, pride, and those secret bosom-sins which so easily beset a man in daily life; and to sum up all in a word, it is enough to say of the man himself, that he impresses you with a perfect conviction of his sincerity.” More than a hundred years after his death, Charles Spurgeon’s legacy continues to effectively inspire the church around the world. For this reason, Delmarva Publications has chosen to publish the complete works of Charles Spurgeon.

Join the Random House Reader’s Circle for author chats and more. In boyhood, Louis Zamperini was an incorrigible delinquent. As a teenager, he channeled his defiance into running, discovering a prodigious talent that had carried him to the Berlin Olympics. But when World War II began, the athlete became an airman, embarking on a journey that led to a doomed flight on a May afternoon in 1943. When his Army Air Forces bomber crashed into the Pacific Ocean, against all odds, Zamperini survived, adrift on a foundering life raft. Ahead of Zamperini lay thousands of miles of open ocean, leaping sharks, thirst and starvation, enemy aircraft, and, beyond, a trial even greater. Driven to the limits of endurance, Zamperini would answer desperation with ingenuity; suffering with hope, resolve, and humor; brutality with rebellion. His fate, whether triumph or tragedy, would be suspended on the fraying wire of his will. Appearing in paperback for the first time—with twenty arresting new photos and an extensive Q&A with the author—Unbroken is an unforgettable testament to the resilience of the human mind, body, and spirit, brought vividly to life by Seabiscuit author Laura Hillenbrand.
