Book Synopsis Refining Design for Business by : Michael Krypel
Download or read book Refining Design for Business written by Michael Krypel and published by Adobe Press. This book was released on 2014-03-23 with total page 311 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Innovation and technology have forever changed what it means to be a business. Some businesses now exist only online; increasingly, companies are being built with new technologies that require new skills; and customers are routinely accessing businesses via interactive visual and audio experiences–through web pages or apps, computers, and mobile devices. These experiences are based on design, which has never been so important to the business world. Customers interact with designs by looking, clicking, typing, listening, speaking to, and touching them. These interactions largely occur where and when the customer chooses: alone on the couch at home, at work, at social events, while traveling on an airplane, and elsewhere. When people say they “read an article,” “bought a friend a gift,” “watched a video,” or “booked a hotel,” they’re talking about engaging with businesses by interacting with their designs. No matter how great a business idea is, or what technology it relies on behind the scenes, a company needs to express itself visually in a way customers will understand and be able to interact with easily in order to be successful. The number of ways to translate an idea into a design is infinite, but which designs will also drive customer value? Michael Krypel’s Refining Design for Business answers this key question, showing you how to build a successful online business by creating engaging and measurable customer experiences. In this book, you will learn how to: • Change the standard design process most companies follow to enhance accountability for generating business and customer value, while creating new opportunities for collaboration and innovation. • Understand customer goals and build a strategic marketing plan to continually realign the business around them. • Use A/B testing and segmentation strategies to personalize experiences across a business. • Develop new approaches through “visual business cases” that show how different companies have solved problems, including before-and-after examples of what the online businesses themselves actually looked like.

This book was released on 2012-06-25 with total page 335 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book defines the architecture requirements and minimum system requirementsfor a computer system that is designed to become an open industry standard. These requirements provide a description of the devices, interfaces, and dataformats required to design and build a PowerPC-based computer. This standard isdesigned to provide software compatibility for several operating environments.Systems built to these requirements can use industry-standard componentscurrently found in IBM-compatible and Apple® Macintosh® personal computers. Thesesystems are expected to run various future versions of operating systemsincluding Apple Mac OSTM, IBM AIXTM and PowerPCTM Editions of IBM OS/2 Warp ConnectTM,Microsoft Windows NTTM Workstation, Novell NetwareTM, and SunSoft SolarisTM. This book is the primary source of information for anyone developing a hardwareplatform, an operating system, or hardware component to be part of thesestandard systems. It describes the hardware-to-operating-system interface thatis essential to anyone building hardware platforms and provides the minimumsystem configurations that platform designers must meet when building a standardplatform. Component manufacturers require this information to producecompatible chips and adapters to use on these platforms, and software developersrequire the information on mandatory functions and documented interfaces. The architecture is intended to support a range of PowerPC microprocessor-based system implementations including portable, desktop, and server classsystems, and allows multiple operating-system implementations across a widerange of environments and functions. This enables new hardware and softwareenhancements that are necessary for the development of improved userinterfaces, higher performance, and broader operating environments.

Book excerpt: The third in a series of international conferences on Integrated Formal Methods, IFM 2002, was held in Turku, Finland, May 15–17, 2002. Turku, situated in the south western corner of the country, is the former capital of Finland. The ? conference was organized jointly by Abo Akademi University and Turku Centre for Computer Science. The theme of IFM 1999 was the integration of state and behavioral based formalisms. For IFM 2000 this was widened to include all aspects pertaining to the integration of formal methods and formal notations. One of the goals of IFM 2002 was to further investigate these themes. Moreover, IFM 2002 explored the relations between formal methods and graphical notations, especially the industrialstandardlanguageforsoftwaredesign, theUni?edModelingLanguage (UML). The themes of IFM 2002 re?ect what we believe is a growing trend in the Formal Methods and Software Engineering research communities. Over the last threedecades, computerscientistshavedevelopedarangeofformalismsfocusing on particular aspects of behavior or analysis, such as sequential program str- tures, concurrentprogramstructures, dataandinformationstructures, temporal reasoning, deductive proof, and model checking. Much e?ort is now being - voted to integrating these methods in order to combine their advantages and ensure they scale up to industrial needs. Graphical notations are now widely used in software engineering and there is growing recognition of the importance ofprovidingthesewiththeformalunderpinningsandformalanalysiscapabilities found in formal methods.
