This book was released on 2017-01-11 with total page 1322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Providing a comprehensive introduction to the fundamentals and applications of flow and heat transfer in conventional and miniature systems, this fully enhanced and updated edition covers all the topics essential for graduate courses on two-phase flow, boiling, and condensation. Beginning with a concise review of single-phase flow fundamentals and interfacial phenomena, detailed and clear discussion is provided on a range of topics, including two-phase hydrodynamics and flow regimes, mathematical modeling of gas-liquid two-phase flows, pool and flow boiling, flow and boiling in mini and microchannels, external and internal-flow condensation with and without noncondensables, condensation in small flow passages, and two-phase choked flow. Numerous solved examples and end-of-chapter problems that include many common design problems likely to be encountered by students, make this an essential text for graduate students. With up-to-date detail on the most recent research trends and practical applications, it is also an ideal reference for professionals and researchers in mechanical, nuclear, and chemical engineering.
Book Synopsis An Experimental Study of Two-phase Natural Circulation in an Adiabatic Flow Loop by :
Download or read book An Experimental Study of Two-phase Natural Circulation in an Adiabatic Flow Loop written by and published by . This book was released on 1988 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An experimental investigation was conducted to study the two-phase flow aspect of the phenomena of interruption and resumption of natural circulation, two-phase flow patterns and pattern transitions in the hot legs of B and W light water reactor systems. The test facility was a scaled adiabatic loop designed in accordance with the scaling criteria developed by Kocamustafaogullari and Ishii. The diameter and the height of the hot leg were 10 cm and 5.5 m, respectively; the working fluid pair was nitrogen-water. The effects of the thermal center in the steam generators, friction loss in the cold leg, and configuration of the inlet to the hot leg on the flow conditions in the hot leg were investigated by varying the water level in a gas separator, controlling the size of opening of a friction loss control valve, and using two inlet geometries. Methods for estimating the distribution parameter and the average drift velocity are proposed so that they may be used in the application of one-dimensional drift-flux model to the analysis of the interruption and resumption of natural circulation in a similar geometry. 7 refs., 17 figs., 4 tabs.

Download or read book Advances in Cryogenic Engineering written by R. W. Fast and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-09 with total page 1022 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Colorado Springs, Colorado, spectacularly located at the foot of Pike's Peak, was the site of the joint 1983 Cryogenic Engineer ing Conference - International Cryogenic Materials Conference. Over 300 papers were presented at the two conferences on a variety of cryogenic science and engineering topics. Volume 29 of Advances in Cryogenic Engineering contains 116 of the papers presented at the 1983 Cryogenic Engineering Confer ence. Each paper was comprehensively peer reviewed to maintain the international reputation of the series as the premier archival medium in the field of cryotechnology. I would like to thank both authors and reviewers for their assistance in the preparation of this volume. R. W. Fast, Editor xvii DEDICATION The cryogenic engineering community was saddened to learn of the death of A. Clark Leonard of the Royal Military College of Canada, Kingston, Ontario, on November 24, 1983. Professor Leonard was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Canada, in February, 1922. Following service in the RCAF during World War II he received his B.M.E. degree at the University of Saskatchewan. While serving with the Canadian forces in Korea, he was awarded membership in the Order of the British Empire. He received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Michigan.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the wake of energy crisis due to rapid growth of industries, urbanization, transportation, and human habit, the efficient transfer of heat could play a vital role in energy saving. Industries, household requirements, offices, transportation are all dependent on heat exchanging equipment. Considering these, the present book has incorporated different sections related to general aspects of heat transfer phenomena, convective heat transfer mode, boiling and condensation, heat transfer to two phase flow and heat transfer augmentation by different means.

Book Synopsis Two-phase Flow and Heat Transfer by : P. B. Whalley
Download or read book Two-phase Flow and Heat Transfer written by P. B. Whalley and published by Oxford University Press, USA. This book was released on 1996 with total page 104 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This concise and well illustrated book is intended for students of chemical and mechanical engineering. It is concerned exclusively with gas-liquid flows. The first part deals with adiabatic flows, that is, flows without the addition or removal of heat. The second part deals with heat-transfer in two-phase flows: boiling and condensation. The various types of heat transfer are identified and methods to calculate them given. Two-phase flow and heat transfer are commonly encountered in heat exchangers (distillation and condensation) and in pipelines, and are therefore fundamental to many industrial chemistry processes.
