Download or read book Rotating Shell Dynamics written by Hua Li and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2005-01-19 with total page 283 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are numerous engineering applications for high-speed rotating structures which rotate about their symmetric axes. For example, free-flight sub-munition projectiles rotate at high speeds in order to achieve an aerodynamically-stable flight. This is the first book of its kind to provide a comprehensive and systematic description of rotating shell dynamics. It not only provides the basic derivation of the dynamic governing equations for rotating shells, but documents benchmark results for free vibration, critical speed and parametric resonance. It is written in a simple and clear manner making it accessible both the expert and graduate student. The first monograph to provide a detailed description of rotating shell dynamics Dynamic problems such as free vibration and dynamic stability are examined in detail, for basic shells of revolutions

Book Synopsis A Theory of Latticed Plates and Shells by : G. I. Pshenichnov
Download or read book A Theory of Latticed Plates and Shells written by G. I. Pshenichnov and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1993 with total page 332 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book presents the theory of latticed shells as continual systems and describes its applications. It analyses the problems of statics, stability and dynamics. Generally, a classical rod deformation theory is applied. However, in some instances, more precise theories which particularly consider geometrical and physical nonlinearity are employed. A new effective method for solving general boundary value problems and its application for numerical and analytical solutions of mathematical physics and reticulated shell theory problems is described. A new method of solving the shell theory's nonlinear problems, substantially simplifying the existing algorithms is given. Questions of optimum design are discussed. Some of the findings are generalized and extended to edged and composite systems. The results of the solutions of a wide range of pressing problems are presented.

Book Synopsis Forced Motion of Shallow Spherical Shells by : Herbert Reismann
Download or read book Forced Motion of Shallow Spherical Shells written by Herbert Reismann and published by . This book was released on 1967 with total page 82 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A formal solution is presented for the dynamic response of a shallow spherical shell under axisymmetric but otherwise arbitrarily distributed, time dependent surface tractions, for arbitrary initial conditions and (admissible) homogeneous boundary conditions. The solution is obtained in terms of the eigenfunctions associated with the free vibration of the shell, and appropriate orthogonality and normalization conditions are formulated. The free vibration problem for a clamped shell is solved, and an example of shell response to a transient loading condition is presented. The theoretical development and its application are carried out within the framework of a theory which accounts for the effects of shear deformation and rotatory inertia. A comparison with the theory which neglects these effects is presented. Significant differences in the predictions of the two theories are noted. (Author).
