Book Synopsis Product Modelling for Computer Integrated Design and Manufacture by : Michael Pratt
Download or read book Product Modelling for Computer Integrated Design and Manufacture written by Michael Pratt and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-01-09 with total page 439 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This state-of-the-art text explores developments in geometric modeling, product modeling and their applications. In particular, it looks at the means by which product geometry emerges from the conceptual stages of design, and the use of geometric reasoning for applications downstream of design, including manufacture ands assembly. Much existing design research is either totally geometry based or totally non-geometric, and the interface between the two areas is of intense interest to industry, as well as being crucial for the successful development of integrated systems for design and manufacture. This interface is currently not well understood and the book makes a significant contribution towards its understanding. This book is essential reading for technical managers and research and development engineers.

Download or read book Designers written by Eckart Frankenberger and published by Springer. This book was released on 1998-07-10 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Modern product development means problem solving by teams in complex working environments. Thereby, the design process is influenced by factors from various fields, the task, the individual, the team, and the organisational context. This complex network of influences turns product development into a challenge with requirements for the designers aside from technical problems. This book contains the proceedings of the international symposium Designers - The Key to Successful Product Development held in Darmstadt, Germany, December 1997. During this meeting exponents from different leading research groups in engineering design came together to present and discuss their results. Within this volume different aims, issues and methods of design research are addressed in 23 contributions by different research groups. Structured in six sections according to the main fields of influence, it provides a survey of the state of scientifically-based knowledge and the trends of engineering design research on the influences leading to successful product development.

Book Synopsis Practical Design of Ships and Other Floating Structures by : You-Sheng Wu
Download or read book Practical Design of Ships and Other Floating Structures written by You-Sheng Wu and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2001-08-22 with total page 721 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This proceedings contains the papers presented at The 8th International Symposium on Practical Design of Ships and Other Floating Structures held in China in September 2001 - the first PRADS of the 21st Century. The overall aim of PRADS symposia is to advance the design of ships and other floating structures as a professional discipline and science by exchanging knowledge and promoting discussion of relevant topics in the fields of naval architecture and marine and offshore engineering. In line with the aim, in welcoming the new era, this Symposium is intended to increase international co-operation and give a momentum for the new development of design and production technology of ships and other floating structures for efficiency, economy, safety, and environmental production. The main themes of this Symposium are Design Synthesis, Production, Hydrodynamics, Structures and Materials of Ships and Floating Systems. Proposals for over 270 papers from 26 countries and regions within the themes were received for PRADS 2001, and about 170 papers were accepted for presentation at the symposium. With the high quality of the proposed papers the Local Organising Committee had a difficult task to make a balanced selection and to control the total number of papers for fitting into the allocated time schedule approved by the Standing Committee of PRADS. Volume I covers design synthesis, production and part of hydrodynamics. Volume II contains the rest of hydrodynamics, and structures and materials.

Book Synopsis Concepts in Submarine Design by : Roy Burcher
Download or read book Concepts in Submarine Design written by Roy Burcher and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1995-10-27 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores the many engineering and architectural aspects of submarine design and how they relate to each other and the operational performance required of the vessel. Concepts of hydrodynamics, structure, powering and dynamics are explained, in addition to architectural considerations which bear on the submarine design process. The interplay between these aspects of design is given particular attention, and a final chapter is devoted to the generation of the concept design for the submarine as a whole. Submarine design makes extensive use of computer aids, and examples of algorithms used in concept design are given. The emphasis in the book is on providing engineering insight as well as an understanding of the intricacies of the submarine design process. It will serve as a text for students and as a reference manual for practising engineers and designers.
