Download or read book T-Rex Tries Again written by Hugh Murphy and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2019-10-29 with total page 114 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A hilarious gift and perfect stocking stuffer, the third installment of the T-Rex Trying series features simple, charming, and hilarious illustrations depicting the hapless T-Rex and family doing their best in a world made for creatures with smaller heads and longer arms. For the last six years, the lovable, hilarious T-Rex family--T-Rex himself, his partner She-Rex, and their adorable child, Wee-Rex--have charmed readers and dinosaur lovers throughout the nation. With a sweetly funny tone and truly adorable illustrations, the new collection will include all-new material, featuring T-Rex and family in situations like these: T-Rex trying to hail a cab... T-Rex trying to shear a flock of sheep... T-Rex trying to grab the toys at the bottom of his pool... T-Rex trying to put a comforter inside a duvet cover... T-Rex trying to play the bagpipes... T-Rex trying to cut down a tree with a two-person saw... T-Rex trying to feed a horse through an electric fence... T-Rex trying to plug in a lamp behind the bed... This book will leave you applauding (like T-Rex can't) and wiping tears from your eyes (like T-Rex wishes he could), but most of all, it will leave you wondering how on earth this animal survived a day, let alone the entire Cretaceous Period.

Book Synopsis T. rex and the Crater of Doom by : Walter Alvarez
Download or read book T. rex and the Crater of Doom written by Walter Alvarez and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2015-09-15 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sixty-five million years ago, a comet or asteroid larger than Mount Everest slammed into the Earth, inducing an explosion equivalent to the detonation of a hundred million hydrogen bombs. Vaporized detritus blasted through the atmosphere upon impact, falling back to Earth around the globe. Disastrous environmental consequences ensued: a giant tsunami, continent-scale wildfires, darkness, and cold, followed by sweltering greenhouse heat. When conditions returned to normal, half the plant and animal genera on Earth had perished. This horrific chain of events is now widely accepted as the solution to a great scientific mystery: what caused the extinction of the dinosaurs? Walter Alvarez, one of the Berkeley scientists who discovered evidence of the impact, tells the story behind the development of the initially controversial theory. It is a saga of high adventure in remote locations, of arduous data collection and intellectual struggle, of long periods of frustration ended by sudden breakthroughs, of friendships made and lost, and of the exhilaration of discovery that forever altered our understanding of Earth's geological history.

Book Synopsis The Moving Spotlight by : Ross P. Cameron
Download or read book The Moving Spotlight written by Ross P. Cameron and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page 230 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ross P. Cameron argues that the flow of time is a genuine feature of reality. He suggests that the best version of the A-Theory is a version of the Moving Spotlight view, according to which past and future beings are real, but there is nonetheless an objectively privileged present. Cameron argues that the Moving Spotlight theory should be viewed as having more in common with Presentism (the view that reality is limited to the present) than with the B-Theory (the view that time is just another dimension like space through which things are spread out). The Moving Spotlight view, on this picture, agrees with Presentism that everything is the way it is now, it simply thinks that non-present beings are amongst the things that are now some way. Cameron argues that the Moving Spotlight theory provides the best account of truthmakers for claims about what was or will be the case, and he defends the view against a number of objections, including McTaggart's argument that the A-Theory is inconsistent, and the charge that if the A-Theory is true but presentism false then we could not know that we are present. The Moving Spotlight defends an account of the open future--that what will happen is, as yet, undetermined--and argues that this is a better account than that available to the Growing Block theory.
