Book Synopsis Advanced Reactors with Innovative Fuels by : OECD Nuclear Energy Agency
Download or read book Advanced Reactors with Innovative Fuels written by OECD Nuclear Energy Agency and published by Nuclear Energy Agency. This book was released on 2002 with total page 524 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A new generation of nuclear reactor designs is being developed in order to meet the needs of the 21st century. In the short term, the most important objective is to improve competitiveness in the deregulated market. For this purpose evolutionary light water reactors are being developed and promoted actively. In the longer term, other requirements related to long-term sustainability will emerge, including the need to minimise the environmental burden passed on to future generations, the need to establish sustainability of the fuel and the need to minimise stocks of separated plutonium and their accessibility. At this workshop, information on R&D activities for advanced reactor systems was exchanged and research areas in which international co-operation could be strengthened were identified, in particular the roles that could be played by existing experimental facilities and the possible needs for new infrastructure.

Download or read book Physics of Plutonium Recycling written by Nuclear Energy Agency and published by OECD Publishing. This book was released on 2002 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report examines the recycling of plutonium as thermal mixed-oxide (MOX) fuel in pressurised water reactors (PWRs) in order to discover the number of times plutonium can effectively be recycled. In particular, it describes an exercise based on a realistic, multiple-recycle scenario, which followed plutonium through five generations of recycling in a PWR. It considers both a standard PWR design currently in use and a highly moderated design, in order to provide a better understanding of their relative merits, as well as giving an insight into the limitations of multiple recycling and the long-term toxicity of fission products and actinides.

This book was released on 2020-10-22 with total page 404 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fractional-Order Models for Nuclear Reactor Analysis presents fractional modeling issues in the context of anomalous diffusion processes in an accessible and practical way. The book emphasizes the importance of non-Fickian diffusion in heterogeneous systems as the core of the nuclear reactor, as well as different variations of diffusion processes in nuclear reactors which are presented to establish the importance of nuclear and thermohydraulic phenomena and the physical side effects of feedback. In addition, the book analyzes core issues in fractional modeling in nuclear reactors surrounding phenomenological description and important analytical sub-diffusive processes in the transport neutron. Users will find the most innovative modeling techniques of nuclear reactors using operator differentials of fractional order and applications in nuclear design and reactor dynamics. Proposed methods are tested with Boltzmann equations and non-linear order models alongside real data from nuclear power plants, making this a valuable resource for nuclear professionals, researchers and graduate students, as well as those working in nuclear research centers with expertise in mathematical modeling, physics and control. Presents and analyzes a new paradigm of nuclear reactor phenomena with fractional modeling Considers principles of fractional calculation, methods of solving differential equations of fractional order, and their applications Includes methodologies of linear and nonlinear analysis, along with design and dynamic analyses
