This book was released on 1951 with total page 72 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An experimental investigation to determine the external and internal flow characteristics of a typical ram-jet-inlet configuration of an external-compression type utilizing an isentropic spike and a subsonic diffuser was conducted in the NACA Lewis 8- by 6-foot supersonic wind tunnel. The model was investigated of a range of mass-flow ratios at angles of attack up to 10 degrees, free-stream Mach numbers of 1.59, 1.79, and 1.99, and a Reynolds number of approximately 2,400,000 based on inlet diameter.

Book Synopsis Ablation and Viscous Effects on the Force and Moment Characteristics of Slender Cone Models at Mach 10 Under Laminar Flow Conditions by : B. J. Griffith
Download or read book Ablation and Viscous Effects on the Force and Moment Characteristics of Slender Cone Models at Mach 10 Under Laminar Flow Conditions written by B. J. Griffith and published by . This book was released on 1975 with total page 38 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A comprehensive wind tunnel investigation was conducted at Mach number 10 on 4- and 5-deg half-angle cones in order to study ablation and viscous effects under laminar flow conditions. Attention was focused on (1) the mode of ablation simulation, (2) obtaining consistent pitch plane force measurements in the angle-of-attack range from 0 to 4 deg, (3) the effect of bluntness, and (4) viscous effects over as large a Reynolds number range as possible. The subliming ablator used was camphor, which is compared to blowing through a porous surface using (1) nitrogen, (2) argon, and (3) sulphur hexafluoride (SF6) gases.

Book Synopsis Wind-tunnel Tests of Seven Static-pressure Probes at Transonic Speeds by : Francis J. Capone
Download or read book Wind-tunnel Tests of Seven Static-pressure Probes at Transonic Speeds written by Francis J. Capone and published by . This book was released on 1961 with total page 36 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Wind-tunnel tests have been conducted to determine the errors of 3 seven static-pressure probes mounted very close to the nose of a body of revolution simulating a missile forebody. The tests were conducted at Mach numbers from 0.80 to 1.08 and at angles of attack from -1.7° to 8.4°. The test Reynolds number per foot varied from 3.35 x 106 to 4.05 x 106. For three 4-vane, gimbaled probes, the static-pressure errors remained constant throughout the test angle-of-attack range for all Mach numbers except 1.02. For two single-vane, self-rotating probes having two orifices at ±37.5° from the plane of symmetry on the lower surface of the probe body, the static-pressure error varied as much as 1.5 percent of free-stream static pressure through the test angle-of-attack range for all Mach numbers. For two fixed, cone-cylinder probes of short length and large diameter, the static-pressure error varied over the test angle-of-attack range at constant Mach numbers as much as 8 to 10 percent of free-stream static pressure.
