Fixing Nigeria is possible because every single Nigerian knows that Nigeria is in a sorry state of systemic, structural, socio-political and economic disrepair and every single Nigerian agrees that Nigeria needs fixing. The only thing that has been lacking is a clear and realistic way of going about it. The book is Nigeria unraveled! It succinctly articulates the cogent problems with Nigeria and proffers well reasoned, salient and practical ways about how the country can be reformed and made to work for all of its citizens. Book Synopsis Maritime Cabotage Law by : Aniekan Akpan
Download or read book Maritime Cabotage Law written by Aniekan Akpan and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-12-17 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the most comprehensive review of maritime cabotage law. It introduces the new theory of Developmental Sovereignty to jurisprudence. The maritime cabotage law provisions and approaches as adopted in many states and jurisdictions has been extensively scrutinised. This book challenges the established and accepted wisdom surrounding maritime cabotage by presenting new reasoning on the underpinning principles of the concept of maritime cabotage law. The book offers a vibrant discussion on the adjustment in the regulatory approaches of maritime cabotage, from one that was intrinsically premised on the idea of national sovereignty, to one that now embraces the broader ideology of development. It investigates what the common understanding of the law of maritime cabotage should be and on what intellectual basis it can be justified. It reduces the inconsistencies and confusion that surround the concept and application of maritime cabotage law, to provide a more certain and more robust concept of maritime cabotage.
Book Synopsis How Megaprojects Are Damaging Nigeria and How to Fix It by : Jimoh Ibrahim
Download or read book How Megaprojects Are Damaging Nigeria and How to Fix It written by Jimoh Ibrahim and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022 with total page 253 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since 1960, two-thirds of very large governmental projects in Nigeria have not only failed, but been abandoned mid-course. This presents a bigger failure rate than mega projects elsewhere, and yet there is no available data or analysis to help us understand the reasons behind such failures. This book provides an authoritative examination into why very large projects in Nigeria have failed so badly, and provides practical recommendations on how the Nigerian government can improve its project performance. Drawing on data from 38 very large projects (19 completed and 19 abandoned) with a total budget of over $25B, this book presents detailed analysis of these projects and in-depth case studies 11 of the projects, and presents lessons for improvement. Through this, the authors have identified a small number of key success drivers, and argue that making moderate improvements on any of them would, on average, save hundreds of millions of dollars on one large project alone. This open access book is a game-changer in the management of government mega projects in Nigeria. With clear implications for other developing economies, this is a vital resource for project management practitioners, executives and civil servants. Jimoh Ibrahim is a prominent businessman in Nigeria. He is also currently completing his Business Doctorate degree at the University of Cambridge, Judge Business School, and he is working on establishing a new University in Nigeria. Christoph Loch is Professor of Operations and Technology Management at the Cambridge Judge Business School. He served as the Dean of the school from 2011 to 2021. Kishore Sengupta is Professor of Operations and Technology Management at the Cambridge Judge Business School.

Book Synopsis Fixing Stereotypes...My Way by : Dr. Harbhajan S. Batth
Download or read book Fixing Stereotypes...My Way written by Dr. Harbhajan S. Batth and published by Dr. Batth. This book was released on with total page 40370 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The phenomenon of stereotyping is commonly used to make things mindlessly easier for us to understand. To categorize individuals and to classify them into groups so we can make sense of the world. We use it in various contexts: Indians are snobs, arrogant and under-endowed, Chinese do not know how to drive, blondes are dumb, Nigerians are scammers etc. We are all guilty of stereotyping at some point in our lives. It may be based on nationality, color of skin, gender, race etc. The categorization of a group of people that we tend to pigeon-hole is based on but limited to our personal experiences, what is showcased and broadcast in media, the stories that we have heard and so on; but we make the mistake to apply it to an entire group. Having spent two decades of my life in West Africa, through this book I intend to challenge the epidemic of stereotyping of Nigeria. There is corruption in Nigeria but don't label the entire country as being corrupt, there is corruption in India too. There are scams in Nigeria but don't label all Nigerian as scammers, there are scams in Hong Kong too. There is drug trafficking in Nigeria but don't label all Nigerian as drug peddlers, there is drug trafficking in Mexico too. What follows in this book shall give a window into the consciousness of the minds housing Nigerian stereotypes. Please be mindful that along the way the filter of typecasts will cloud your vision. Therefore, through my narrative based on first-hand experiences, I invite you to get to know what Nigeria and Nigerians are all about. Remember, oftentimes the reality is far more attractive and superior than what we dare to acknowledge.

Book Synopsis Plant-Rhizobia Symbiosis and Nitrogen Fixation in Legumes by :
Download or read book Plant-Rhizobia Symbiosis and Nitrogen Fixation in Legumes written by and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2024-04-29 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The reciprocal exchange of chemical signals between legume and rhizobium leads to the establishment of Root Nodule Symbiosis (RNS). The discoveries of the Nodulation Factor (NF) and nod genes, along with the discoveries of the relevant genetic plant factors, have expanded our understanding of how legume-rhizobial interactions constitute a successful mutualistic symbiosis. Symbiotic nodule formation can be divided into the following molecular events: (i) the reciprocal exchange of signals; (ii) epidermal recognition of symbiotic partner and infection thread formation; (iii) nodule organogenesis; (iv) the establishment of a microaerophilic environment to provide nitrogenase the ideal condition to work; and, (v) modulation of immunity to host rhizobium inside the nodule cells. The number of nodules in a plant is maintained via a process of systemic signaling, known as ‘autoregulation of nodulation’ (AON), that acts as a negative signal to control nodule number in low nitrogen conditions and inhibit nodule initiation in an optimally nitrogen-fed plant. Over 200 plant genes have been discovered up to now and these discoveries have given us a broad understanding of RNS.
