Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book or rather group of short stories/homilies are written from a viewpoint of how God has provided truth in the scripture to apply to the many situations that life presents and gives us guidance through pain, fear, failure and success. The reflections that play out in these stories show the truth of Gods promise to be with us and show Himself in life as it happens and that God is the breath and wisdom of our lives, not just a Sunday morning visit to a pew. In whatever we face and in whatever we experience, whether we view it as good and wonderful or painful and trying, God can be found directing us, counselling us and holding us upright in the journey. Jesus is the great friend and the Holy Spirit the great companion as we face the challenge of whatever fires are before us. Through addiction, trauma and life God has not altered, never given up on me and has been faithful to show himself through the greatest storms and during the greatest times of peace. Jesus is hope. Born in Austin Texas the youngest of 7 children I grew up in the central Texas area as the son of a roofer. Dropping out of school to join the navy at age 17 where I spent two hitches and traveled the world, got arrested often and drank too much. Began a firefighting career in 1985 and served 22 years with a large metro department and then serving as a fire chief for smaller departments until 2020. Serve as pastor of a small Texas town church. Married, 1 son, 2 daughters, 3 step daughters, 14 grandchildren. Saved by Jesus 1982.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Decades fighting other people’s fires prepared Kelvin Cochran to face his own fiery trial. He overcame poverty, prejudice, and pain to fulfill a childhood dream of helping others, rising to the top of firefighting’s professional ladder in Atlanta, Georgia. At one time nationally recognized as “America’s fire chief,” Kelvin unexpectedly found himself caught in a fireball of controversy over his orthodox Christian beliefs, for which he ultimately was fired by the city—making him a focal point in a national battle over religious freedom. Misrepresented by activists and the media, Kelvin relied on his faith to bring him through. In due course he emerged from the flames of scandal unscathed, like the friends of the prophet Daniel who were thrown into the burning furnace. Kelvin’s story is a sobering warning of how Christians faithful to biblical teachings are increasingly at risk of persecution in today’s culture. It is also an inspiring example of overcoming racial prejudice and adversity, and finding the courage to take the heat and stand for the truth.

Book excerpt: Why is it when a young boy sees a fire engine screaming down the road with lights and sirens blaring, he is in awe and dreams about being one of those firefighters? Of course it looks cool and exciting, but why is it even through our adult years, we still hold those that ride the big red truck in such high regard? It's very simple. It is because of the pride, the honor, and the traditions they hold in such high regard. In "Saved by the Flame, " author Teran Moore talks about the values and challenges that life as a firefighter has presented him. As a new Christian, Teran shares how his brothers in the firehouse, along with his faith in Christ, have brought him through many ups and downs including his marriage, the birth of his children, and coping with the diagnosis of a debilitating disease. Offering a unique insight to the brotherhood of firefighters, Teran explains how all life's tests we face are part of God's ultimate plan so we can become who and what He wants us to be. The flame saved his life, how can it save yours?

Book excerpt: The first woman in the Dallas Fire Department, Sherrie's true stories are entertaining, shocking, and faith building. Determined to reach her goal of retirement with a full pension, Sherrie tells what it was like to be the first-and only woman-in a profession previously reserved exclusively for men. Told with raw emotion, Sherrie will open your eyes and your heart to the reality of pioneering the way for other women to serve in similar "man-worthy" jobs. Her lighthearted manner belies the "fire in the belly" perseverance required just to show up to work. Truly her character as well as her faith were on the line with her life every time the bell rang. Even more so, her faith and character were developed and tried through the unseen fire between bells in a firehouse filled with men eager to discourage her at every turn.

Book excerpt: He helped save people every day—but he had no idea how to save himself. Jason Sautel had it all. Confident in his abilities and trusted by his fellow firefighters, he was making a name for himself on the streets of Oakland, California. His adrenaline-fueled job even helped him forget the pain of his childhood—until the day he looked into the eyes of a jumper on the Bay Bridge and came face to face with a darkness he knew would take him down as well. In the following months, a series of traumatic emergency calls—some successful, others impossible-to-forget failures—drove Jason deeper into depression. Even as he continued his lifesaving work, he realized he could never rescue everyone, and he had no idea how to save himself. In the end, Jason was forced to confront the truth: only the relentless power of love could pull him back from his own deadly fall. Action-packed, spiritually honest, and surprisingly romantic, The Rescuer transports readers inside the pulse-pounding world of firefighting and into the heart of a man who needed to be broken before he could finally be made whole.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Faith Under Fire was written from a very human reality, which allows the reader to more readily relate to the spiritual, as well as the natural components of faith. The book emerged from the author’s awareness of her own struggles with the faith that she confesses. It is not comprised of simply “religious jargon”, but allows for even an unbelieving reader to grasp the truths presented therein. The author’s unpretentious approach to presenting the reader with” tried and true” methods for overcoming the attacks against their faith, informs as well as enlightens the reader, as to the undeniable basis of “real faith.” The central theme of this book is the struggle we often have as believers, as we stand in the place of faith, believing to receive the promise of God even in extreme adversity. The author strives to encourage the reader from a spiritual perspective…yet a very human reality, that our faith will come under attack, and we may be tempted to waiver or even give up, but we can be victorious fighting the good fight of faith! Faith was fashioned to function as an active element of our existence as children of God. Trusting our Creator should be as natural as taking the next breath. We are elevated from struggle to triumph when we come to grips with the futility of our dependence upon ourselves, and the inevitability of the sovereignty of Abba God in our lives.
