Book Synopsis Fine Riding on motivated Horses by : Uta Gräf
Download or read book Fine Riding on motivated Horses written by Uta Gräf and published by FNverlag. This book was released on 2015-08-17 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Whether it be dressage, showjumping, eventing or hobby riding, our common goal is to enjoy riding, treat our horses well and reach personal goals. To demonstrate how highly successful competitive sport can indeed go hand in hand with a close-to-nature, horse-friendly way of caring for and looking after horses, we provide insights into the personal training and stable management concepts of Uta Graef. The authors will show everything that goes into this approach, including, for example, the structure of training, supporting horses in a way which respects their age, as well as general care and behaviour around horses. But you as a rider are also very important! How can you change your attitude towards horses in a positive way? How can you maintain your pleasure in riding or, if lost, win it back? How can it be possible to ride with less stress in future? The stable culture and the way classes and lessons are structured also play an important role in ensuring you enjoy your riding. The authors will show what influences each and every rider can optimise in order to reach the goal of fine riding on motivated horses. The book will encourage you to follow a horse-friendly path towards personal success, adhering to the principles of classical training and, step by step, working up towards your personal goals. This does not necessarily have to be competitive success, but it could also simply be the desire for fine riding on motivated horses. Therefore, the authors of this book wish to emphasise what kind of thought processes and which principles are particularly suitable for a positive influence on fine riding, rather than just listing training movements and the requirements at different levels. It is not a classical textbook, but rather a helpful and pleasant read with many 'behind the scenes' insights for riders of all disciplines and of all levels.
Book Synopsis Fine Horses and Fair-Minded Riders by : JuliAnna Ávila
Download or read book Fine Horses and Fair-Minded Riders written by JuliAnna Ávila and published by Purdue University Press. This book was released on 2024-04-15 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What we currently call “horse whispering” has roots in a form of western horsemanship that traveled from Europe to Mexico and the United States, and was then transformed by Native Americans and working cowboys into Vaquero horsemanship. Fine Horses and Fair-Minded Riders: Modern Vaquero Horsemanship documents the learning and practice of Vaquero horsemanship, which has survived as a vibrant part of horse culture. In her study, Ávila first focused on participants in the southeastern United States before expanding to include their mentors from across the United States. Ávila characterizes what she found as “a collapse of distance” between geographical and cultural boundaries, digital and physical spaces, and, most significantly, horses and humans. Influenced by New Literacies scholarship and employing a sociocultural theoretical framework, Ávila explores self-directed learning journeys; the flexibility of apprentice and expert positions; the influence of consumer culture; the philosophy and significance of the cultural roots of Vaquero horsemanship; the role of technology; and what the future of this continually evolving horsemanship might include. At the heart of this volume are personal stories and firsthand accounts from those who have studied modern Vaquero horsemanship, which can help to create exceptional and powerful bonds between horses and humans.

Book Synopsis Horse Profiling: The Secret to Motivating Equine Athletes by : Kerry Thomas
Download or read book Horse Profiling: The Secret to Motivating Equine Athletes written by Kerry Thomas and published by Trafalgar Square Books. This book was released on 2012-09-01 with total page 301 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Thomas Herding Technique is thoroughly explained in this book that helps trainers of top equine athletes get them to perform their very best while living happy, contented lives. While following wild horse herds in Wyoming and Montana, independent researcher Kerry Thomas realized that what is inside the horse (emotional conformation) and not what is outside (how a horse is built, or its physical conformation) is what governs herd dynamics. He determined that this was the basis for everything horse: whatever role a horse plays in a human environment-whatever breed, sport, or job-the emotional conformation dictates, in large part, success or failure. Thomas identified a system of emotional profiling-the Thomas Herding Technique-that enables him to determine a horse's performance tendencies, and then began to develop ways in which horses can be mentally conditioned toward a given goal. The technique is already used by some leading racehorse training and breeding programs in the world, and this book explains this unique way of analyzing the psyche of the equine athlete for all horses, and particularly those in competitive careers where performance is a primary focus"--
Download or read book Fine Riding written by Susan McBane and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2021-09-30 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Equitation Science together with classical riding is today probably the most humane, effective, and practical way of training and enjoying the horse, competitive or not. To avoid getting involved is to accede to the status quo. Our horses deserve better. ~Sharon E. Cregier, Ph.D., FIASH (Hon., Edin.), founding member of Equine Behaviour Forum In precise, practical language, Fine Riding describes how to blend the principles of classical riding with the modern findings of Equitation Science, demonstrating how to put the principles into practice when training and riding horses. The book encompasses the author's lifelong background in authentic classical riding and a 17-year study and practice of Equitation Science. It presents the best of the old with the best of the new, resulting in a unique and rational blend of principles, clearly explained, that enables and encourages readers to train, ride and care for their horses truly effectively and humanely. Applicable to riding of all schools of thought, from hacking to racing, including jumping, McBane's method is more than simply another ‘system’ of riding. It applies the results of rigorous scientific studies to the historical, classical training and riding of horses in an ethical, humane and effective way, explaining the principles in such a way that readers will feel able to put it into effect themselves. This book will encourage horse owners to serve their horses with renewed understanding and commitment.

Ingrid has furthered her father’s esteemed legacy, modernizing two of the classic works by her father—the bestselling The New Basic Training of the Young Horse and Cavalletti—and tirelessly championing a balanced, fair, and caring system of training the horse that ensures his physical and mental well-being even while preparing him for the very top levels of international competition. And now Ingrid has written a book of her own, detailing her personal system of bringing a horse along through the stages of progressive development, and providing readers guidelines and exercises to ensure success without stress at each milestone. The result is surely a joyful partnership between rider and horse that will go the distance.
