Book excerpt: The LSND experiment provides evidence for neutrino oscillations from both the primary [bar [nu]][sub [mu]] [r-arrow] [bar [nu]][sub e] oscillation search and the secondary [nu][sub [mu]] [r-arrow] [nu][sub e] oscillation search. At present, this remains the only evidence for appearance neutrino oscillations and implies that at least one neutrino has a mass greater than 0.4 eV/c[sup 2] and that neutrinos comprise more than 1% of the mass of the universe. The MiniBooNE experiment at Fermilab, which is presently under construction, will provide a definitive test of the LSND results, and if the neutrino oscillation results are confirmed, will make a precision measurement of the oscillation parameters.

Book excerpt: The LSND experiment at Los Alamos has conducted searches for [anti [nu]][sub [mu]] [r-arrow] [anti [nu]][sub e] oscillations using [anti [nu]][sub [mu]] from [mu][sup +] decay at rest and for [nu][sub [mu]] [r-arrow] [nu][sub e] oscillations using [nu][sub [mu]] from [pi][sup +] decay in flight. For the [anti [nu]][sub [mu]] [r-arrow] [anti [nu]][sub e] search, a total excess of 51.8[sub [minus]16.9][sup +18.7] [+-] 8.0 events is observed with e[sup +] energy between 20 and 60 MeV, while for the [nu][sub mu] [r-arrow] [nu][sub e] search, a total excess of 18.1 [+-] 6.6 [+-] 4.0 events is observed with e[sup [minus]] energy between 60 and 200 MeV. If attributed to neutrino oscillations, these excesses correspond to oscillation probabilities (averaged over the experimental energies and spatial acceptances) of (0.31 [+-] 0.12 [+-] 0.05)% and (0.26 [+-] 0.10 [+-] 0.05)%, respectively. For the future, the BooNE experiment at Fermilab could prove that neutrino oscillations occur and make precision measurements of [Delta]m[sup 2] and sin[sup 2]2[theta].

Book excerpt: The Sudbury Neutrino Observatory (SNO) was a water Cherenkov detector dedicated to investigate elementary particles called neutrinos. It successfully took data between 1999 and 2006. The detector was unique in its use of heavy water as a detection medium, permitting it to make a solar model-independent test of solar neutrino mixing. In fact, SNO conclusively showed that solar neutrinos oscillate on their way from the core of the Sun to the Earth. This groundbreaking observation was made during three independent phases of the experiment. Even if data taking ended, SNO is still in a mode of precise determination of the solar neutrino oscillation parameters because all along SNO had developed several methods to tell charged-current events apart from neutral-current events. This ability is crucial for the final and ultimate data analysis of all the phases. The physics reach of a combined three-phase solar analysis will be reviewed together with results and subtleties about solar neutrino physics.

The detectors are 14 mrad off the beam axis, which results in an almost monoenergetic beam of 2 GeV neutrinos. The construction of the 14 kT Far Detector and 300 T Near Detector finished in 2014. Since then, NO$\nu$A has collected data and we will discuss the first data analyses using 2:74 x $10^{20}$ POT searching for muon neutrino disappearance and electron neutrino appearance in the Far Detector.
