Book Synopsis Biopolitics for beginners by : Ottavio Marzocca
Download or read book Biopolitics for beginners written by Ottavio Marzocca and published by Mimesis. This book was released on 2021-02-25T00:00:00+01:00 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The term biopolitics can be fully understood only within the context of modern forms of governing society. From this perspective, the development of modern medical knowledge, the re-organization of the hospital as a health institution, the growing attention to issues related to population, and the rise of biological knowledge can be connected with the infl uence of economic rationality on the most important political strategies. In this book, the crucial role that the family has played throughout the history of biopolitics is also explored explaining how it is fi rstly a place of government of life as well as a means to extend various forms of biopower to the whole society. By analysing the works of key fi gures in the debate on biopolitics – such as Agamben, Negri, Esposito, Rose, Cooper, among others – this volume offers a systematic examination of this notion also in relation to the current ecological crisis and the pandemic of Covid-19, addressing fundamental problems of political thought and referring to great thinkers such as Foucault and Arendt, Plato and Aristotle. Book Synopsis Communities’ Sustainable Experiences by : Salvatore Di Dio
Download or read book Communities’ Sustainable Experiences written by Salvatore Di Dio and published by Altralinea Edizioni . This book was released on 2024-06-24 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “THE TRUE DIMENSION OF CITIES IS NOT SPACE, BUT TIME” (Konstantinos Doxiadis) This shift from the spatial dimension to that of time, places the focus on the individual’s scale of perception. How individuals spend their time shapes and infuses our environments with meaning, influencing social dynamics and cultural values. The Next Generation EU project exemplifies this shift by integrating lifestyle and environmental sustainability into urban planning. The goal is to facilitate a just transition to a circular economy, redefining not only the physical layout of cities but also the lived experience of its citizens within these evolving spaces. The evolution from the “Citizens’ Sustainable eXperience” to the “Communities’ Sustainable eXperience” , in the interdisciplinary research funded by the European Union, underscores a significant progression from individual to collective experience. UX, rooted in human-centered design, focuses on optimizing products and environments for personal use and satisfaction, CX expands these principles into the realm of more-than-human-centered design, where the focus extends beyond individual users to include wider community interactions and ecosystems. Therefore, the shift from UX to CX in urban planning and design is profoundly ethical. It calls for a paradigm that prioritizes collective well-being and sustainable development, inclusivity and cooperation.
Book Synopsis Multidisciplinary Aspects of Design by : Francesca Zanella
Download or read book Multidisciplinary Aspects of Design written by Francesca Zanella and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-12-30 with total page 784 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This open access book gathers the contributions from the Design! OPEN International Conference, held in Parma, Italy in May 2022. The conference explored the multidisciplinary aspects of design starting from its dimensions: objects (design as focused on the object, on its functional and symbolic dimension, and at the same time on the object as a tool for representing cultures), processes (the designer’s self-reflective moment which is focused on the analysis and on the definition of processes in various contexts, spanning innovation, social engagement, reflection on emergencies or forecasting), experiences (design as a theoretical and practical strategy aimed at facilitating experiential interactions among people, people and objects or environments), and narratives (making history, representing through different media, archiving, narrating, and exhibiting design). The contributions, which were selected by means of a rigorous international peer-review process, highlight numerous exciting ideas that will spur novel research directions and foster multidisciplinary collaboration among different specialists.

Book Synopsis Agroecología y sustentabilidad by : Luis Alberto Olín Fabela
Download or read book Agroecología y sustentabilidad written by Luis Alberto Olín Fabela and published by Comunicacion Científica. This book was released on 2024-06-10 with total page 203 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book Synopsis People and Space by : Giovanni Maciocco
Download or read book People and Space written by Giovanni Maciocco and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-04-05 with total page 243 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores new forms and modalities of relations between people and space that increasingly affect the life of the city. The investigation takes as its starting point the idea that in contemporary societies the loss of our relationship with place is a symptom of a breakdown in the relationship between ethics and aesthetics. This in turn has caused a crisis not only in taste, but also in our sense of beauty, our aesthetic instinct, and our moral values. It has also led to the loss of our engagement with the landscape, which is essential for cities to function. The authors argue that new, fertile forms of interaction between people and space are now happening in what they call the ‘intermediate space’, at the border of “urban normality” and those parts of a city where citizens experiment with unconventional social practices. This new interaction engenders a collective conscience, giving a new and productive vigor to the actions of individuals and also their relations with their environment. These new relations emerge only after we abandon what is called the “therapeutic illusion of space”, which still exists today, and which binds in a deterministic manner the quality of civitas, the associative life of people in the city, to the quality of urban space. Projects for the city should, instead, have as their keystone the notion of social action as a return to a critical perspective, to a courageous acceptance of social responsibility, at the same time as seeking the generative structures of urban life in which civitas and urbs again acknowledge each other.

Book Synopsis Introduzione all'ecologia by : Arne Naess
Download or read book Introduzione all'ecologia written by Arne Naess and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page 219 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Verso una prospettiva ecocentrica by : Matteo Andreozzi
Download or read book Verso una prospettiva ecocentrica written by Matteo Andreozzi and published by LED Edizioni Universitarie. This book was released on 2011 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
