Not a few of the Vicars, it would appear, contented themselves with the attendance at the office of Matins only, and still claimed their grant from the communa; hence by this statute it was enacted, that, unless they were present also at the other canonical hours, they should not only lose their daily allowance, but, in the event of persistence in their neglect, should be visited with severer penalties.
