Book excerpt: Adoption of new technologies in logistics and supply chain processes is crucial for the continued effectiveness of supply chains. Technology has the potential to address the issue of logistics and supply chain visibility throughout the supply chain, from raw materials through manufacturers and end users. When properly implemented, improved forecasting of inventory levels, employee productivity, adequate accountability, and higher warehouse savings are all possible. Additionally, businesses must upskill their supply chain workers and recruit and manage digital talent in cross-functional teams. The Handbook of Research on Promoting Logistics and Supply Chain Resilience Through Digital Transformation discusses the ways in which global logistics and supply chains have been severely disrupted by digital technology transformation. The book helps policymakers in designing a resilient framework that can absorb external shocks like the COVID-19 pandemic and also enhances the performance and operational capability of the logistics and supply chain network. Covering topics such as oil and gas maintenance support, stakeholder management, and business optimization strategy, this major reference work is essential for logistics professionals, business leaders and executives, IT managers, government officials, manufacturers, students and faculty of higher education, librarians, researchers, and academicians.

LDIC 2012 provided a venue for researchers from academia and industry interested in the technical advances in dynamics in logistics. The conference addressed research in logistics from a wide range of fields, e.g. engineering, computer science and operations research. The volume consists of two invited papers and of 49 contributed papers divided into various subjects including transport logistics, routing in dynamic logistic networks, modeling, simulation, optimization and collaboration in logistics, identification technologies, mathematical modeling in transport and production logistics, information, communication, risk and failure in logistic systems, autonomous control in logistic processes, global supply chains and industrial applications, and the Internet of Things in the context of logistics.

This book was released on 2016 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study sheds light on small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) financing and its performance in Thailand. It elaborates on the key sources of finance existing for Thai manufacturing SMEs and their importance for SME performance as measured by technical efficiency, export performance, and technological innovation. This study also examines the key factors enhancing SME access to external finance. Our results confirm that retained earnings are crucial to increase SME technical efficiency, but loans from unlicensed moneylenders deteriorate their export performance. For external finance, government-owned specialized financial institutions (SFIs) play a leading role in enhancing SME technical efficiency and export performance, but the results from the survey reveal that few Thai manufacturing SMEs actively seek external finance from these institutions. Foreign commercial banks also help enhance SME technical efficiency. The results show that larger SMEs have superior performance as measured by export performance and technological innovation performance. The results also reveal that financial institutions in Thailand still rely on collateral-based lending and SME financial transparency through audited financial statements to reduce asymmetric information and adverse selection costs.

Book excerpt: As logistics are at the heart of the operation of small and medium restaurants, the logistics management implementation of restaurant entrepreneurs is a critical component for achieving their business goals. Therefore, the purpose of this research was to find the factors influencing their logistics management implementation. A self-administrative questionnaire was used as a research tool in gathering data from 400 entrepreneurs who operated small and medium restaurants in Bangkok, Thailand. The research found that the restaurant entrepreneurs were aware of the logistics management at somewhat level. Finally, a stepwise multiple regression was conducted and predicted the tendency of logistics management implementation. The analysis provided the linear combination of six independent variables (entrepreneur's gender, age, education, experience in business, size of business, and level of awareness in logistics management) which significantly related to the dependent variable (the tendency of logistics management implementation) at a statistical significance level of 0.05.

Book excerpt: This study is an attempt to test a framework that looks into how relationships in internal and external logistics factors contribute to the success of firms in the Electrical and Electronics Industry in Thailand. Data were collected from the 303 firms in the Electrical and Electronics Industry in Thailand during 2009. The analysis is divided into two studies. In the first study, all responding firms are included in the analysis. In the second study, the analysis is divided into two scenarios based on the firm's capital investment (less than or higher than 200 million Baht). Questionnaires were used as a tool to collect data and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was used to analyze relationships among these factors. Seven hypothesized relationships were tested on five factors which consisted of human resource management, logistics infrastructure, internal operational activities, external operational activities and business performance. The results showed some supports for some of the hypotheses and made a contribution to the understanding of the influence of internal and external logistics factors on business performance based on the size of the firms.
