Book Synopsis Edible Oil Processing from a Patent Perspective by : Albert J. Dijkstra
Download or read book Edible Oil Processing from a Patent Perspective written by Albert J. Dijkstra and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-09-28 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Patent literature has always been a mine of information, but until recently, it was difficult to access. Now, with the Internet, access to all patent documents is almost instantaneous and free. However, interpreting the technical information provided by patent literature requires a certain skill. This monograph aims to provide that skill by explaining patent jargon and providing background information on patenting. Patents dealing with edible oil processing are used to explain various aspects of patenting. To make the explanations less impersonal, some have been larded with personal remarks and experiences. Accordingly, this monograph is intended for scientists and engineers dealing with edible oils and fats who want to extend their sources of technical information. Hopefully, it will inspire them to innovate, help them to avoid duplication, and provide them with some amusement.
Book Synopsis Chemical Engineering Volume 2 by : J H Harker
Download or read book Chemical Engineering Volume 2 written by J H Harker and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 1219 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Chemical Engineering Volume 2 covers the properties of particulate systems, including the character of individual particles and their behaviour in fluids. Sedimentation of particles, both singly and at high concentrations, flow in packed and fluidised beads and filtration are then examined. The latter part of the book deals with separation processes, such as distillation and gas absorption, which illustrate applications of the fundamental principles of mass transfer introduced in Chemical Engineering Volume 1. In conclusion, several techniques of growing importance - adsorption, ion exchange, chromatographic and membrane separations, and process intensification - are described. - A logical progression of chemical engineering concepts, volume 2 builds on fundamental principles contained in Chemical Engineering volume 1 and these volumes are fully cross-referenced - Reflects the growth in complexity and stature of chemical engineering over the last few years - Supported with further reading at the end of each chapter and graded problems at the end of the book

Book Synopsis Separation Process Essentials by : Alan M. Lane
Download or read book Separation Process Essentials written by Alan M. Lane and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2019-11-07 with total page 362 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Separation Process Essentials provides an interactive approach for students to learn the main separation processes (distillation, absorption, stripping, and solvent extraction) using material and energy balances with equilibrium relationships, while referring readers to other more complete works when needed. Membrane separations are included as an example of non-equilibrium processes. This book reviews and builds on material learned in the first chemical engineering courses such as Material and Energy Balances and Thermodynamics as applied to separations. It relies heavily on example problems, including completely worked and explained problems followed by "Try This At Home" guided examples. Most examples have accompanying downloadable Excel spreadsheet simulations. The book also offers a complementary website, http://separationsbook.com, with supplementary material such as links to YouTube tutorials, practice problems, and the Excel simulations. This book is aimed at second and third year undergraduate students in Chemical engineering, as well as professionals in the field of Chemical engineering, and can be used for a one semester course in separation processes and unit operations.
Download or read book Organotin written by M.A. Champ and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1996-09-30 with total page 674 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: single toxicant before it, yet one that has now been brought under effective control-at least in estuaries and the nearshore environment. The problem with TBT and its cause was first recognized in France, then in the United Kingdom and the United States of America; and in these and other countries legislation is now in place (see Abel, Chapter 2; Champ and Wade, Chapter 3), but in many countries the hazard is only now being identified. This volume has the important function of making available to all a summary of the results of work on TBT and the main conclusions. It will help to minimize the duplication of research and speed the introduction of legislation around the world to control organotin pollution. It is the more valuable because research on TBT has often been published in less accessible journals and symposium proceedings. This volume brings together accounts of these findings by the major contributors to the TBT story, providing the most comprehensive account to date. The TBT problem has proved to be instructive in a number of different ways beyond the bounds of the specific issue (Stebbing, 1985). Most important is that TBT can be seen as a challenge to monitoring systems for nearshore waters, by which it can be judged how effective monitoring has been in fulfilling its purpose, and what improvements should be made. Most instructive was the time it took to bring TBT under control.

Book Synopsis Contemporary Practice of Chromatography by : C.F. Poole
Download or read book Contemporary Practice of Chromatography written by C.F. Poole and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 719 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written for all those who use chromatography as an analytical tool, this book covers all areas of gas, liquid, and thin-layer chromatography; no other book offers the same scope. The authors have had considerable experience in teaching graduate-level courses and the material presented here has been tried and tested, having formed the basis for short courses taught to groups of industrial chemists. Emphasis is on the practice of chromatographic methods, including ``how to'' sections and numerous examples of calculation methods. Extensively illustrated, the book contains numerous tables of all useful constants, materials and formulas frequently used by chromatographers. Valuable features are the chapters on sample preparation for chromatographic analysis, on instrumental methods for sample identification, and the comprehensive literature review.
