Book Synopsis Photochemistry, History and Commercial Applications of Hexaarylbiimidazoles by : Rolf Dessauer
Download or read book Photochemistry, History and Commercial Applications of Hexaarylbiimidazoles written by Rolf Dessauer and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2006-11-14 with total page 249 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The objective of this book is to acquaint the reader with a novel class of photochemical oxidants and polymerization initiators that have become widely accepted in industry. As most of the work with these materials is reported in the patent literature, an effort has been made to study this area of scientific activity, as well as present a thorough review of the journal publications. Photochemistry, History and Commercial Applications of HABIs also presents new technologies such as waveguides, holography along with some more traditional applications (i.e. filters, litho plates, and photoresists). - A complete review of technology associated with hexaarylbiimidazoles

Book Synopsis Surface Processing and Laser Assisted Chemistry by : E. Fogarassy
Download or read book Surface Processing and Laser Assisted Chemistry written by E. Fogarassy and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1990-12-01 with total page 495 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The papers in this volume cover all aspects of laser assisted surface processing ranging from the preparation of high-Tc superconducting layer structures to industrial laser applications for device fabrication. The topics presented give recent results in organometallic chemistry and laser photochemistry, and novel surface characterization techniques. The ability to control the surface morphology by digital deposition and etching shows one of the future directions for exciting applications of laser surface processing, some of which may apply UV and VUV excitation. The understanding of elementary proceses is essential for the design of novel deposition methods, with diamond CVD being an outstanding example. The high quality of these contributions once again demonstrates that the E-MRS is an efficient forum for interaction between research workers and industry.

Book Synopsis Long-Term and Accelerated Ageing Tests on Rubbers by : Roger P. Brown
Download or read book Long-Term and Accelerated Ageing Tests on Rubbers written by Roger P. Brown and published by iSmithers Rapra Publishing. This book was released on 2000 with total page 90 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The properties of rubbers are subject to change as a result of ageing, ultimately to the point where the material is no longer capable of fulfilling its function. After a brief introduction to the main environmental and mechanical factors affecting performance, this review focuses on the thermo-oxidative ageing of rubber. It considers the methods of, and the published results from, both natural and accelerated tests. A major section of the report is devoted to exposure and test techniques with discussion of the methods of physical and chemical analysis. An additional indexed section containing several hundred abstracts from the Rapra Polymer Library database gives useful references for further reading.

Book Synopsis Degradation and Stabilisation of PVC by : J. Owen
Download or read book Degradation and Stabilisation of PVC written by J. Owen and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 325 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Polyvinyl chloride has played a key role in the development of the plastics industry over the past 40 years and continues to be a polymer of major importance. The reasons for its enormous versatility and range of application derive from a combination of the basic structure which gives rise to a relatively tough and rigid material and its ability to accept a range of plasticisers and other additives which can modify its physical characteristics to produce a range of flexible products. Two major problems, however, have tested the skill and ingenuity of PVC technologists since earliest times. One is the thermal instability of the material at the temperatures required for melt processing and fabrication, and the second is the photochemical instability which until recently has limited the potentially large range of outdoor applications. Both problems have been handled in a commercially satisfactory way by the gradual development of a range of stabilisers, lubricants and other processing aids and the high quality material which has resulted has led to massive utilisation of PVC by industry. Totally adequate stabilisation requires a detailed understanding of the mechanisms by which degradation processes are initiated and propagated. Although great advances have been made in this respect in recent years the problem remains incompletely understood. This book presents an account of the present position and the problems which remain to be solved.
