Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Experimentation and Versatility considers Chappell's first four novels and his short fiction - the novels chronologically and the short stories thematically - in order to demonstrate the unique range and importance of his fictional prose. Rather than inserting Chappell's fictional variables into a single theoretical formula, Clabough traces and celebrates their various and multifaceted excursions into genres as disparate as Appalachian pastoralism and experimental science fiction. Containing both an interview with Chappell and a previously unpublished short story, Experimentation and Versatility also offers new primary sources on Chappell's work, even as it contextualizes him as one of our most exciting and multi-talented contemporary writers. Investigating the complexities of Chappell's work, Clabough's study offers new ways of considering Chappell, who has been characterized variously as a Appalachian, Southern, and fantasy writer. However, as Clabough demonstrates, he is, in fact, all and none of these things - a writer of immense gifts constantly reinventing himself through his experiments in seemingly disparate genres."--BOOK JACKET.Title Summary field provided by Blackwell North America, Inc. Book excerpt: Traditionally, symbiosis research has been undertaken by researchers working independently of one another and often focused on a few cases of bipartite host-symbiont interactions. New model systems are emerging that will enable us to fill fundamental gaps in symbiosis research and theory, focusing on a broad range of symbiotic interactions and including a variety of multicellular hosts and their complex microbial communities. In this Research Topic, we invited researchers to contribute their work on diverse symbiotic networks, since there are a large variety of symbioses with major roles in the proper functioning of terrestrial or aquatic ecosystems, and we wished the Topic to provide a venue for communicating findings across diverse taxonomic groups. A synthesis of recent investigations in symbiosis can impact areas such as agriculture, where a basic understanding of plant-microbe symbiosis will provide foundational information on the increasingly important issue of nitrogen fixation; climate change, where anthropogenic factors are threatening the survival of marine symbiotic ecosystems such as coral reefs; animal and human health, where unbalances in host microbiomes are being increasingly associated with a wide range of diseases; and biotechnology, where process optimization can be achieved through optimization of symbiotic partnerships. Overall, our vision was to produce a volume of works that will help define general principles of symbiosis within a new conceptual framework, in the road to finally establish symbiology as an overdue central discipline of biological science.

Book excerpt: Cyber security research is one of the important areas in the computer science domain which also plays a major role in the life of almost every individual, enterprise, society and country, which this book illustrates. A large number of advanced security books focus on either cryptography or system security which covers both information and network security. However, there is hardly any books available for advanced-level students and research scholars in security research to systematically study how the major attacks are studied, modeled, planned and combated by the community. This book aims to fill this gap. This book provides focused content related to specific attacks or attack families. These dedicated discussions in the form of individual chapters covers the application or area specific aspects, while discussing the placement of defense solutions to combat the attacks. It includes eight high quality chapters from established security research groups worldwide, which address important attacks from theoretical (modeling) as well as practical aspects. Each chapter brings together comprehensive and structured information on an attack or an attack family. The authors present crisp detailing on the state of the art with quality illustration of defense mechanisms and open research problems. This book also covers various important attacks families such as insider threats, semantics social engineering attacks, distributed denial of service attacks, botnet based attacks, cyber physical malware based attacks, cross-vm attacks, and IoT covert channel attacks. This book will serve the interests of cyber security enthusiasts, undergraduates, post-graduates, researchers and professionals working in this field.
