Book Synopsis Velocity/wave-vector Probability Density Function Models for Inhomogeneous Turbulent Flows by : Paul Richard Van Slooten
Download or read book Velocity/wave-vector Probability Density Function Models for Inhomogeneous Turbulent Flows written by Paul Richard Van Slooten and published by . This book was released on 1998 with total page 562 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Constructs and implements turbulence models for probability density function (PDF) methods for the computation of turbulent reacting flows. Treats the processes of convection and reaction without further assumptions at this level of closure, while the effects of the fluctuation pressure gradient and the diffusion of the fluctuating velocity by molecular viscosity require modeling. Effects correspond to the pressure-rate-of-strain correlations, the pressure transport, and the dissipation tensor in the Reynolds stress equation. Investigates models for each of these variables.

Book Synopsis Smart Control of Turbulent Combustion by : A. Yoshida
Download or read book Smart Control of Turbulent Combustion written by A. Yoshida and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 137 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The International Workshop on Turbulent Combustion was held September 14-15, 2000, at the Nagoya Institute of Technology, to review the present status of turbu lent combustion studies. Reviews were presented by Prof. F. A. Williams of the Uni versity of California, San Diego; Prof. Ken Bray of the University of Cambridge; and Prof. Jay Gore of Purdue University. Dr. Howard Baum of the National Institute of Standards and Technology and Dr. Jim McDonough of the University of Ken tucky participated in the discussion. Some ten papers, describing the latest findings of Japanese studies in this field, were given at the meeting. About half of these studies are supported by a national project, the Open and Integrated Research Pro gram, Creation of New Functionalized Thermo-Fluid Systems by Turbulence Con trol, that started only recently under the sponsorship of the Science and Technology Agency of Japan. The meeting was a great success and gave impetus and a sense of perspective to young Japanese researchers through the excellent reviews and valu able comments their work received. I believe that this kind of open discussion is indispensable for any project to produce a good outcome, and I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all who participated in the meeting. Finally, I would like to express my special thanks to Prof. Tatsuya Hasegawa of the Nagoya Institute of Technology, Prof. Akira Yoshida of Tokyo Denki University, Prof.
Book Synopsis Unsteady Combustor Physics by : Tim C. Lieuwen
Download or read book Unsteady Combustor Physics written by Tim C. Lieuwen and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2012-08-27 with total page 427 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Developing clean, sustainable energy systems is a pre-eminent issue of our time. Most projections indicate that combustion-based energy conversion systems will continue to be the predominant approach for the majority of our energy usage. Unsteady combustor issues present the key challenge associated with the development of clean, high-efficiency combustion systems such as those used for power generation, heating or propulsion applications. This comprehensive study is unique, treating the subject in a systematic manner. Although this book focuses on unsteady combusting flows, it places particular emphasis on the system dynamics that occur at the intersection of the combustion, fluid mechanics and acoustic disciplines. Individuals with a background in fluid mechanics and combustion will find this book to be an incomparable study that synthesises these fields into a coherent understanding of the intrinsically unsteady processes in combustors.
Book Synopsis Computational Fluid Dynamics Simulations by : Guozhao Ji
Download or read book Computational Fluid Dynamics Simulations written by Guozhao Ji and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2020-09 with total page 250 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fluid flows are encountered in our daily life as well as in engineering industries. Identifying the temporal and spatial distribution of fluid dynamic properties is essential in analyzing the processes related to flows. These properties, such as velocity, turbulence, temperature, pressure, and concentration, play important roles in mass transfer, heat transfer, reaction rate, and force analysis. However, obtaining the analytical solution of these fluid property distributions is technically difficult or impossible. With the technique of finite difference methods or finite element methods, attaining numerical solutions from the partial differential equations of mass, momentum, and energy have become achievable. Therefore, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) has emerged and been widely applied in various fields. This book collects the recent studies that have applied the CFD technique in analyzing several representative processes covering mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, environmental engineering, and thermal engineering.
Book Synopsis Microgravity Combustion by : Howard D. Ross
Download or read book Microgravity Combustion written by Howard D. Ross and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2001-09-03 with total page 601 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides an introduction to understanding combustion, the burning of a substance that produces heat and often light, in microgravity environments-i.e., environments with very low gravity such as outer space. Readers are presented with a compilation of worldwide findings from fifteen years of research and experimental tests in various low-gravity environments, including drop towers, aircraft, and space.Microgravity Combustion is unique in that no other book reviews low- gravity combustion research in such a comprehensive manner. It provides an excellent introduction for those researching in the fields of combustion, aerospace, and fluid and thermal sciences.* An introduction to the progress made in understanding combustion in a microgravity environment* Experimental, theoretical and computational findings of current combustion research* Tutorial concepts, such as scaling analysis* Worldwide microgravity research findings
