This book was released on 2013-09-03 with total page 191 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Data mining of massive data sets is transforming the way we think about crisis response, marketing, entertainment, cybersecurity and national intelligence. Collections of documents, images, videos, and networks are being thought of not merely as bit strings to be stored, indexed, and retrieved, but as potential sources of discovery and knowledge, requiring sophisticated analysis techniques that go far beyond classical indexing and keyword counting, aiming to find relational and semantic interpretations of the phenomena underlying the data. Frontiers in Massive Data Analysis examines the frontier of analyzing massive amounts of data, whether in a static database or streaming through a system. Data at that scale-terabytes and petabytes-is increasingly common in science (e.g., particle physics, remote sensing, genomics), Internet commerce, business analytics, national security, communications, and elsewhere. The tools that work to infer knowledge from data at smaller scales do not necessarily work, or work well, at such massive scale. New tools, skills, and approaches are necessary, and this report identifies many of them, plus promising research directions to explore. Frontiers in Massive Data Analysis discusses pitfalls in trying to infer knowledge from massive data, and it characterizes seven major classes of computation that are common in the analysis of massive data. Overall, this report illustrates the cross-disciplinary knowledge-from computer science, statistics, machine learning, and application disciplines-that must be brought to bear to make useful inferences from massive data.

The 2nd International Conference on Business Administration and Data Science (BADS 2022) is hosted by Kashi University and organized by the College of Economics and Management of Kashi University. The 2nd International Conference on Business Administration and Data Science (BADS 2022) is one of the series of activities for the 60th anniversary of the founding of Kashgar University In the current situation of rapid economic development, the competition in the market is increasingly fierce. The drawbacks of traditional enterprise management and the backward management concept have seriously hindered the normal development of enterprises. In order to improve their competitive advantages and market share, enterprises must optimize their management methods and build a modern business administration system. In this situation, enterprises can only promote their development process by improving their business management mode and formulating scientific business management policies.

Book Synopsis Data Structures For Particle Physics Experiments: Evolution Or Revolution? - Proceedings Of The 14th Workshop On The Infn Eloisatron Project by : Rene Brun
Download or read book Data Structures For Particle Physics Experiments: Evolution Or Revolution? - Proceedings Of The 14th Workshop On The Infn Eloisatron Project written by Rene Brun and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1991-11-12 with total page 243 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: HEP data structure systems, such as ADAMO, BOS, CHEETAH, JAZELLE, ZEBRA, etc., are not static but continue to evolve, some slowly, others more quickly. Large systems have been built on them, and by a careful comparison of their usage in experiments, one should be able to better understand which way to go. It is crucial to preserve the current investment while exploiting new computing technology.Experiments at large colliders are taking data and doing physics (or about to do so), so one can now compare practical experiences with different data management solutions in the area of: Simulation of Interactions and their Detection, Data Acquisition, On Line Management, Description of Detector and other Equipment, Experiment and Data Processing Bookkeeping, Reconstruction Algorithms, Event Display and Statistical Data Analysis. The articles in these proceedings are by contributors who are active in developing computer systems for Experimental Particle Physics where the organisation of the data plays an important role, as well as those who are building systems and packages to make this work easier.

Book Synopsis eScience on Distributed Computing Infrastructure by : Marian Bubak
Download or read book eScience on Distributed Computing Infrastructure written by Marian Bubak and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-08-25 with total page 547 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To help researchers from different areas of science understand and unlock the potential of the Polish Grid Infrastructure and to define their requirements and expectations, the following 13 pilot communities have been organized and involved in the PLGrid Plus project: Acoustics, AstroGrid-PL, Bioinformatics, Ecology, Energy Sector, Health Sciences, HEPGrid, Life Science, Materials, Metallurgy, Nanotechnologies, Quantum Chemistry and Molecular Physics, and SynchroGrid. The book describes the experience and scientific results achieved by the project partners. Chapters 1 to 8 provide a general overview of research and development activities in the framework of the project with emphasis on services for different scientific areas and an update on the status of the PL-Grid infrastructure, describing new developments in security and middleware. Chapters 9 to 13 discuss new environments and services which may be applied by all scientific communities. Chapters 14 to 36 present how the PLGrid Plus environments, tools and services are used in advanced domain specific computer simulations; these chapters present computational models, new algorithms, and ways in which they are implemented. The book also provides a glossary of terms and concepts. This book may serve as a resource for researchers, developers and system administrators working on efficient exploitation of available e-infrastructures, promoting collaboration and exchange of ideas in the process of constructing a common European e-infrastructure.

Book Synopsis XII Mediterranean Conference on Medical and Biological Engineering and Computing 2010 by : Nicolas Pallikarakis
Download or read book XII Mediterranean Conference on Medical and Biological Engineering and Computing 2010 written by Nicolas Pallikarakis and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-05-28 with total page 1070 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the past three decades, the exploding number of new technologies and applications introduced in medical practice, often powered by advances in biosignal processing and biomedical imaging, created an amazing account of new possibilities for diagnosis and therapy, but also raised major questions of appropriateness and safety. The accelerated development in this field, alongside with the promotion of electronic health care solutions, is often on the basis of an uncontrolled diffusion and use of medical technology. The emergence and use of medical devices is multiplied rapidly and today there exist more than one million different products available on the world market. Despite the fact that the rising cost of health care, partly resulting from the new emerging technological applications, forms the most serious and urgent problem for many governments today, another important concern is that of patient safety and user protection, issues that should never be compromised and expelled from the Biomedical Engineering research practice agenda.
