Book excerpt: This text was originally published in 2004 as a provisional road map gesturing to a plan of action for liberation at the level of the idea vitally compulsory to dismantle the hegemony of the white world order of power in the 21st century. Since 2004 deconstruction of the oeuvre of Frantz Fanon, Michel Foucault, Derek Walcott, the discourse of massa of African enslavement in the Caribbean and the Thought of Xi Jinping for the New Era have been published, which has changed the nature of the road map today versus that of 2004. An extensive revision of the text of 2004 was now necessary which focuses on the the nature of hallucinatory whiteness that afflicts non-white peoples under the hegemony of massa white world order of power, thereby rendering them incapable of liberating themselves at the level of the idea. The need now was to uncover hallucinatory whiteness as it constitutes human action and how the nature of this action is the product of hallucinatory whiteness hence it reinforces white hegemony over the non-white person at the level of the idea. To this end a deconstruction of the writings of Toussaint L'Ouverture of the Haitian Revolution, George Jackson of the African Revolution of Amerikkka and skin bleaching in the Caribbean in the 21st century are presented as case studies illustrating potently the debilitating power hallucinatory whiteness wields over the mind of non-white persons who insist they are champions of liberation, which drives the resilience of massa hegemony over non white peoples of the world.

Now—as evidenced by movements from the Arab Spring to Black Lives Matter—revolutions, protests, and political dissidence are profoundly shaped by information circulating through digital networks. Digital Unsettling is a critical exploration of digitalization that puts contemporary “decolonizing” movements into conversation with theorizations of digital communication. Sahana Udupa and Ethiraj Gabriel Dattatreyan interrogate the forms, forces, and processes that have reinforced neocolonial relations within contemporary digital environments, at a time when digital networks—and the agendas and actions they proffer—have unsettled entrenched hierarchies in unforeseen ways. Digital Unsettling examines events—the toppling of statues in the UK, the proliferation of #BLM activism globally, the rise of Hindu nationalists in North America, the trolling of academics, among others—and how they circulated online and across national boundaries. It is the author’s belief that these environmental differences have altered not only the physiology but are also responsible for the biological and the behavioral differences between blacks, whites and Asians. The ‘Emotional Reservoir’ is a phrase he coined based on the study of the enormous effect of the sun on the earth and how it affects human biology, physiology, and behavior. According to his theory, these environmental differences have numerous effects on human beings; also on how the environment can dictate human intelligence. This theory also suggests that the people who evolved out of sub-Saharan Africa tend to possess more ‘Emotional Reservoir’ than the Europeans and Asians who evolved in a colder environment and who tend to have a lesser ‘Emotional Reservoir’. Furthermore, this higher ‘Emotional Reservoir’ is also responsible for certain behaviors that are detrimental to the growth and the stability of these groups which, in turn, cause behavioral pathologies and poor decision-making.

Book excerpt: Lockstep and Dance: Images of Black Men in Popular Culture examines popular culture's reliance on long-standing stereotypes of black men as animalistic, hypersexual, dangerous criminals, whose bodies, dress, actions, attitudes, and language both repel and attract white audiences. Author Linda G. Tucker studies this trope in the images of well-known African American men in four cultural venues: contemporary literature, black-focused films, sports commentary, and rap music. Through rigorous analysis, the book argues that American popular culture's representations of black men preserve racial hierarchies that imprison blacks both intellectually and physically. Of equal importance are the ways in which black men battle against, respond to, and become implicated in the production and circulation of these images. Tucker cites examples ranging from Michael Jordan's underwear commercials and the popular Barbershop movies to the career of rapper Tupac Shakur and John Edgar Wideman's memoir Brothers and Keepers. Lockstep and Dance tracks the continuity between historical images of African American men, the peculiar constitution of whites' anxieties about black men, and black men's tolerance of and resistance to the reproduction of such images. The legacy of these stereotypes is still apparent in contemporary advertising, film, music, and professional basketball. Lockstep and Dance argues persuasively that these cultural images reinforce the idea of black men as prisoners of American justice and of their own minds but also shows how black men struggle against this imprisonment.
