Book excerpt: OMEGA MAXIMS & MAXIMUM OMEGA is a major project of reverse-title volumes even by John O'Loughlin's amazingly productive and generally profound standards, and brings his philosophizing in this genre to a climax, not least in respect of a deeper approach to subatomic metaphysics, or metaphysics conceived in subatomic terms, and rising and falling diagonals, with due attention to 'particle' and 'wavicle' differentials, both of which terms he appropriated from Arthur Koestler in the interests of his own uniquely comprehensive philosophy.

Book excerpt: Dropped into the Rocky Mountains, the Omega team has minimal supplies and only two days to return to civilization… Trident Security has grown by leaps and bounds, and to accommodate the increased caseload, they’ve compiled a team of seven—the best of the best from military and law enforcement backgrounds. But before they’re turned out to handle their own assignments, the six men and one woman must first prove they’re a cohesive and capable unit. When the wilderness training mission turns into a real-life rescue op, will they all survive? *This novella bridges the original Trident Security (TS) series and the spinoff series, Trident Security Omega Team. While reading the original TS series or this prequel before the Omega Team series is unnecessary, it will give the reader more insight and background into the members of Trident Security. **The Trident Security and its spinoff series contain passionate romance, nail-biting suspense, and happily-ever-afters.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Born in 1842, Camille Flammarion was a French astronomer who wrote many popular books about science and astronomy, together with a number of novels which we would now consider to be science fiction. He was a contemporary of H. G. Wells and Jules Verne, though his works never achieved their level of popularity. Omega: The Last Days of the World is an English translation of Flammarion’s novel La Fin du Monde, published in 1893. The book’s fictional premise is the discovery of a comet on a collision course with the Earth in the 25th century. However, this is mostly a pretext on which Flammarion can hang his interesting scientific speculations about how the world will end, together with philosophical thoughts about war and religion. Much of the scientific description he uses in the book, while accurately representing the knowledge and thinking of his time, has today been superseded by modern discoveries. For example, we now know the source of the Sun’s energy to be nuclear fusion rather than being due to gravitational contraction and the constant infall of meteorites. When talking about the ills of society, however, Flammarion could well be talking about today’s world. For example, he excoriates the vast waste of society’s resources on war, and demonstrates how much more productive each nation’s economy would be without it. He also depicts the media of his future world as having been entirely taken over by commercial interests, publishing only what will excite the greatest number of readers rather than serving the public interest. Omega ranges over a vast period of time, from prehistory through to millions of years in the future when mankind has been reduced to the last two doomed individuals. Nevertheless, the book ends on a hopeful and inspiring note. This book is part of the Standard Ebooks project, which produces free public domain ebooks.

Book excerpt: Damaged. Unwanted. Flawed. An accident left Cassie disabled, ruining her chances at a future. Who would want an omega with scars like hers even if they found a way to bond her? When she's captured by soldiers, she knows it's only a matter of time before she's thrown out on the street again. The news that the damage could be corrected is a shock, but of course it costs too much, and it doesn't guarantee she'll finally go into heat. The flair of hope dies... Until she's bought. Terille smothered his emotions long ago. Feelings serve no purpose for a soldier, but the omega with big brown eyes pulls at something inside him. The others think he's crazy choosing the one they see as broken, but he isn't going to let her go. He'll heal her, then claim her as his own. ***This is the second book in the Omega Market series. It is a sci-fi omegaverse romance. It can be read as a standalone, though is best read after Used, Book 1.***

Book excerpt: Pat Simmons introduces a new Christian fiction series that reminds readers that the bad guys don't always win, especially when the Lord fights our battles. Omega Addams thought it was a typical work day until a detour on the way home changes everything. She's almost killed, but an innocent bystander, Mitchell Franklin, takes a bullet for Omega during a gas station robbery. In the aftermath, Omega has no idea that God expects her to “pray it forward” until a spiritual battle unfolds before her eyes. Another innocent bystander is in trouble; unless Omega gets her prayer life together, others will die without Christ. It's a chain reaction that highlights the responsibility of a Christian--hot, cold, or lukewarm. It’s time to get our acts together. We are our brother’s keeper.

Wolfhart Pannenberg, Professor of Theology at the University of Munich, is a significant voice in the conversation between religion and science; however, almost all the material published about him speaks exclusively from a theological/philosophical perspective. Theologians and philosophers of religion often feel unqualified to address Pannenberg's dialogue with the natural sciences. Beginning with the End addresses this need. The collection begins with a thoughtful introduction mapping the science/religion dialogue and Pannenberg's place in it, followed by 4 pivotal essays by Pannenberg. It includes articles by distinguished scientists and theologians that compellingly analyze everything from behavioral genetics to evolutionary ecology. The editors have made the essays accessible to the general reader who is interested in the hotly debated terrain between religion and science.

Book excerpt: Have you ever asked yourself why human beings are compelled to agree? Is it in our organic human nature to gather in like-minded groups and segregate ourselves from others with dissimilar opinions? Why do we feel the need to call ourselves good or right, believing only we have a firm grasp of the truth, while we label those not like us as bad or wrong? Is it possible that our compulsion to agree is an elaborate man-made control mechanism, rooted in fear? James Beyor points out in The Abyss, the second book in his Guarded Hearts trilogy, that we live in a dangerous time, where our agreements are causing us great mental and biological harm. Humankind is suffering from a bio-mental decrepitude. We have been duped into living out a symbolic replica of our human life potential. Beyor points to an urgent need we must all address, which, if we do not, will bring about anther period of inquisition far more insane and destructive than has been suffered by men in the past. This inquisition will require secular obedience as defined by a government out of control. He points to many fundamental elements that foreshadow unparalleled atrocities inflicted on the mentally and biologically impaired human species. This is not just another doomsday tale; it is a message of hope that we can, if we act now, reestablish our innate inner directed sense of all knowing built and begin again to live an authentic life. The people of the world watch helplessly as our institutions falter in their insatiable struggle for dominance over the human race. We must reclaim individual clarity and wean ourselves from our dependency on agreements of symbols and words. In the Beyor Journals you will come face to face with yourself and become aware of your own innate clarity; a genesis gift available to all those who have the courage to join then the great awakening; who claim their right to a living truth. You will never again wonder what is behind your successes and failures.
