This book offers an abundance of Black role models to help normalize, for all children, the concept of Black success so that it won't feel so rare and exceptional, as it is often depicted. By highlighting numerous real-life Black success stories, this book helps Black children know that their own success is achievable. And when Black success is normalized in the minds non-Black children, they become much less susceptible to absorbing implicit messages that perpetuate negative stereotypes about Black people and Black culture. In becoming aware of these stories, all kids will naturally embrace the normalcy of Black success. And in this case, normalcy is quite exceptional!
