Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The beloved host of the NBC hit show American Ninja Warrior draws inspiration from both the fierce competitors on his show and his own unlikely path to success to outline the essential steps to achieving your goals and becoming a modern-day ninja. Akbar Gbajabiamila, the host of NBC’s hit Emmy-nominated show, American Ninja Warrior, did not have an easy path to success. One of seven children to Nigerian immigrant parents, he grew up in the Crenshaw district of South Central Los Angeles during the 1980s and 90s, a time when the neighborhood was fraught with riots and gang violence. With dreams of playing professional basketball, Gbajabiamila found success not in the sport he loved, but in football. Late in his high school career, Gbajabiamila suited up with pads for the first time and was thrown into the complex sport of football. He climbed major hurdles to play college football and then professional football. After playing in the NFL, it was only after years of hard work behind-the-scenes in radio and television that he was offered the job to be the host of American Ninja Warrior. Through his own inspirational underdog stories and interviews with modern-day ninjas who have accomplished extraordinary things in their own lives against the odds, Akbar proves in Everyone Can Be a Ninja that it doesn’t matter if you make it through every step of the obstacle course on the first try. Ninjas keep pushing themselves until they reach their goals, and they don't let anyone or anything stand in their way. It is easy to see greatness in others; it’s hard to see it in ourselves. Everyone Can Be a Ninja shows you that we can fulfill our potential and achieve our dreams by finding our inner warriors.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Everyone Can Write is an easy-to-understand, practical, 'how to write' book that is accessible to everyone from a business executive wanting to polish his reports to a retiree wanting to chronicle her family history. It solves the problems that beginning writers struggle with by giving them an easy-to-follow and simple set of rules that allows them to write rapidly and clearly. The book outlines the three forms of non-fictionwriting: report, narrative and essay. Each one is dissected and a set of rules applied to each structure. The rules are easily put into practice and vary for each structure. For example, in report writing, two easy-to-apply rules are: 25 words to a sentence and 3 or 4 sentences in a paragraph. The author has also developed a foolproof method of structuring your writing, so that you make effective use of your time. It's based on the easy-to-remember three step formula: Pre-write, Free-write, Re-write. Pre-write refers to researching the necessary information. Free-write refers to getting the information onto the computer screen. Re-write refers to the essential task of editing the writing into clear readable text. This technique allows writers to become the editors of their own writing, thereby dramatically improving its quality. The essentials of grammar and punctuation, easily confused words and other useful tips for writers are also covered.

For many years I have wanted a cook book that not only gives me recipes but shows and tells me the things I need to know to make food items I could be proud to serve. So I decided to make my own. One of the things I love in life is to eat good food. When I’m growing up, mom and dad’s along with grandmas cooking was always the world’s best and in my mind nobody could top them. I was born in the early 1950’s in a middle class family on the south side of Chicago. Father was from Tennessee and Mother from Ohio. So that gave me my fi rst look at fusion cooking as I knew it. By the time I hit my early teens, I learned I could not eat out every meal, so I desired to learn to cook. My passion for food grew into a 45 year career. By trial and error, cooking with other chefs, learning from friends and trying many types of cooking jobs, I have learned something new. As many of us do many things in our life, my time in the Navy, working in diners, fi ne food, major hotels, off shore oil rigs and even retirement homes have taught me every aspect of food. I could not afford to go to culinary school so I learned by doing. Read a cook book, taste the spices, ask friends, but if you like to cook and eat - GET UP AND DO IT. Living in Las Vegas to me is the best. World class food and chefs, food from around the world. This is good life for me. I hope you enjoy this book and that it answers what or want to know about cooking. Please enjoy cooking, eating and life the way that I have.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book asks the question “How are we going to get to a world more-so of free interacting fellow individual people and less-so of restricted groups intrinsically apart from one another? We don’t live in a world so much of cultural groups, religions, nations, skin colors, and genders as much as one of fellow individual people- like ourselves. Recognizing your individuality and that of others is not the same as being individualistic- it is not selfish nor self-absorbed- it is instead our most widespread and fundamental common language and honest base of community with each other. The root of prejudice, terrorism, war and many of humankind’s problems is a failure of people to recognize and accept their own individuality socially and respect and empathize with the fundamental individuality of all others. Socially we should recognize, empathize, and respect each other as individuals regardless of what groups we belong to. No individual should have their skin color or gender define who they are throughout their lives on this planet. We need to transform into a ‘fellow individual’ based society rather than one of fundamentally separated groups of people. We can do this without losing our cultures, religions, nations, states, tribes, languages, etc. – we just need to prioritize- and lead with- individual respect towards all other people.
