Book Synopsis Microprocessor 2 by : Philippe Darche
Download or read book Microprocessor 2 written by Philippe Darche and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2020-11-02 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Calculation is the main function of a computer. The central unit is responsible for executing the programs. The microprocessor is its integrated form. This component, since the announcement of its marketing in 1971, has not stopped breaking records in terms of computing power, price reduction and integration of functions (calculation of basic functions, storage with integrated controllers). It is present today in most electronic devices. Knowing its internal mechanisms and programming is essential for the electronics engineer and computer scientist to understand and master the operation of a computer and advanced concepts of programming. This first volume focuses more particularly on the first generations of microprocessors, that is to say those that handle integers in 4 and 8-bit formats. The first chapter presents the calculation function and reminds the memory function. The following is devoted to notions of calculation model and architecture. The concept of bus is then presented. Chapters 4 and 5 can then address the internal organization and operation of the microprocessor first in hardware and then software. The mechanism of the function call, conventional and interrupted, is more particularly detailed in a separate chapter. The book ends with a presentation of architectures of the first microcomputers for a historical perspective. The knowledge is presented in the most exhaustive way possible with examples drawn from current and old technologies that illustrate and make accessible the theoretical concepts. Each chapter ends if necessary with corrected exercises and a bibliography. The list of acronyms used and an index are at the end of the book.

Book Synopsis Mirror Matter by : Robert L. Forward
Download or read book Mirror Matter written by Robert L. Forward and published by Dissertation.com. This book was released on 2001-09-12 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For nearly four decades the fictional spaceships of the "Star Trek" universe have been powered by antimatter. But antimatter is not science fiction, and neither is the idea of using it for space propulsion. In Mirror Matter: Pioneering Antimatter Physics, renowned physicist Dr. Robert L. Forward and science writer Joel Davis show why, and how. Mirror Matter is the answer to the skeptics who say that using antimatter is too risky, too difficult, or too expensive. Forward and Davis describe how to make, capture, store, and use antimatter. Mirror Matter explains, step-by-step, how to greatly improve the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of antimatter production; how antimatter can be captured and safely stored until it is used; and how it can improve the propulsion capability of interplanetary rocket engines by one to two orders of magnitude. If the solar system is to one day be our big backyard, it will come about using "mirror matter" for space propulsion.

Book Synopsis Nanotechnology and Biosensors by : Dimitrios P Nikolelis
Download or read book Nanotechnology and Biosensors written by Dimitrios P Nikolelis and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2018-06-27 with total page 474 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nanotechnology and Biosensors shows how nanotechnology is used to create affordable, mass-produced, portable, small sized biosensors to directly monitor environmental pollutants. In addition, it provides information on their integration into components and systems for mass market applications in food analysis, environmental monitoring and health diagnostics. Nanotechnology has led to a dramatic improvement in the performance, sensitivity and selectivity of biosensors. As metal-oxide and carbon nanostructures, gold and magnetite nanoparticles, and the integration of dendrimers in biosensors using nanotechnology have contributed greatly in making biosensors more effective and affordable on a mass-market level, this book presents a timely resource on the topic. - Highlights nanotechnology-based approaches to the detection of enzyme inhibitors, direct enzymatic and microbial detection of metabolites, and nutrients using biosensors - Includes examples on how nanotechnology has lead to improvements in the construction of portable, selective and sensitive biosensing devices - Offers thorough coverage of biomarker/biosensor interaction for the rapid detection of toxicants and pollutants

Book Synopsis Simulation of Transport in Nanodevices by : François Triozon
Download or read book Simulation of Transport in Nanodevices written by François Triozon and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2016-12-27 with total page 400 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Linear current-voltage pattern, has been and continues to be the basis for characterizing, evaluating performance, and designing integrated circuits, but is shown not to hold its supremacy as channel lengths are being scaled down. In a nanoscale circuit with reduced dimensionality in one or more of the three Cartesian directions, quantum effects transform the carrier statistics. In the high electric field, the collision free ballistic transform is predicted, while in low electric field the transport remains predominantly scattering-limited. In a micro/nano-circuit, even a low logic voltage of 1 V is above the critical voltage triggering nonohmic behavior that results in ballistic current saturation. A quantum emission may lower this ballistic velocity.
