Book excerpt: Cette thèse est consacrée à l’étude théorique du déplacement des parois magnétiques par l’injection d’un courant polarisé en spin. Le mécanisme mis en jeu est le transfert de spin et permet de manipuler l’aimantation sans recourir à un champ magnétique extérieur. Ce travail est motivé par la recherche du courant critique et est guidé par le modèle 1D de la dynamique des parois. L’injection de spin est d’abord décrite au-delà de la limite adiabatique pour tenir compte de la réflexion des électrons sur les parois, puis dans le régime diffusif pour prendre en considération des mécanismes de relaxation du spin. Enfin, la propagation des parois de domaine est étudiée au-delà de l’approximation des parois rigides, au moyen d’un développement de l’équation LLG autour de la solution statique. Nos modèles nous ont permis d’identifier différents régimes de propagation, de montrer que les collisions des électrons avec les impuretés statiques et les magnons contribuent à une force sur les parois et d’étudier le couplage entre les ondes de spin et les parois en mouvement.

Book excerpt: Nous avons étudié expérimentalement le rôle du transfert de spin sur la dynamique stochastique des parois en utilisant des mesures de magnétorésistance géante, une technique permettant d’avoir de bonnes résolutions spatiale et temporelle sur le mouvement de paroi. Nous avons réalisé (par lithographie) des sites de piégeage constrictifs de géométries contrôlées, permettant d’obtenir des mécanismes simples de dépiégeage de paroi pouvant être décrits par une loi de Neel-Brown. La paroi correspondra alors à une particule ponctuelle franchissant une barrière d’énergie unique avec un taux de transition régi par une loi d’Arrhénius. Notre étude statistique nous a permis de proposer une forme analytique décrivant la barrière d’énergie vue par la paroi lorsque cette dernière est piégée au niveau de la constriction, et donnant notamment la dépendance de la hauteur de la barrière d’énergie avec le champ appliqué. En étudiant ensuite la statistique de dépiégeage sous champs pour des champs proches du champ de dépiégeage, nous avons pu quantifier l’effet du transfert de spin sur la barrière de potentiel induite artificiellement. Concernant les processus de dépiégeage à barrière unique, nous avons démontré qu’une loi d’Arrhenius resterait valide sous courant , et que la barrière d’énergie (effective) varierait linéairement avec le courant appliqué, le coefficient de proportionnalité dépendant uniquement de la composante non adiabatique du transfert de spin β. La théorie que nous avons développée permet d’appuyer cette dernière hypothèse. Nous trouvons à priori que la valeur du paramètre non adiabatique β est proche de celle du paramètre d’amortissement α.
