Book excerpt: Les entrées d’air supersoniques ont pour fonction de capter dans l’atmosphère l’air nécessaire au fonctionnement du moteur d’un aéronef. L’air capté est ralenti et comprimé par un système d’ondes de chocs. Lorsque le débit d’air capté descend en-dessous d’un certain seuil (dit limite de pompage), ces ondes de chocs deviennent instables et se mettent à osciller avec une grande amplitude. Ce phénomène violent et dangereux est nommé pompage. L’objectif de cette thèse est d’en améliorer la compréhension, grâce à l’étude de résultats expérimentaux et de simulations, en vue de rendre possible sa prévision. L’analyse de données obtenues lors d’essais en soufflerie (signaux de pression, strioscopies) met en évidence deux formes distinctes de pompage, se produisant à des fréquences différentes. L’étude des signaux de pression par analyse temps-fréquence (transformée en ondelettes) fait apparaître des phénomènes précurseurs qui annoncent le déclenchement imminent du pompage. On a montré qu’il est possible, grâce à des algorithmes de détection de changement, de détecter en temps réel ces précurseurs suffisamment tôt pour permettre la mise en action de dispositifs de contrôle capables de prévenir le départ du pompage. Sur le plan numérique, le pompage a été simulé par la méthode DDES (Delayed Detached Eddy Simulation). La comparaison aux résultats expérimentaux montre que le phénomène est correctement reproduit par la simulation. Les données fournies par ce calcul permettent alors une analyse physique poussée du phénomène de pompage. Enfin, une méthodologie permettant de prévoir la valeur de la limite de pompage par une série de calculs RANS a été proposée et testée.
