Book excerpt: Ce travail s'inscrit dans le cadre de recherches sur la combustion diphasique dans les chambres propulsives des moteurs aéronautiques et spaciaux. Tout d'abord, une description des techniques d'investigation existantes pour caractériser la phase liquide dispersée dans un environnement réactif et une revue des différentes approches utilisées pour la modélisation des écoulements polyphasiques sont effectuées. Le montage expérimental est ensuite présenté dans la deuxième partie. Inspire par les systèmes a ergols liquides stockables, il s'agit d'un injecteur coaxial avec, au centre, un jet liquide de monométhylhydrazine entouré par un jet annulaire d'air enrichi en oxygène. Une étude détaillée des caractéristiques du brouillard est réalisée en fonctionnement isotherme grâce à un analyseur de particules phase-Doppler. La troisième partie est consacrée au développement et à la validation d'un code de calcul pour la simulation de l'écoulement diphasique turbulent isotherme. Une formulation Eulérienne est utilisée pour les deux phases. La dernière partie décrit l'étude du brouillard en combustion. Tout d'abord des visualisations de la flamme diphasique par tomographie laser révèlent l'existence de deux modes de flamme en fonction du rapport des vitesses de sortie. Une méthode de granulométrie par numérisation et traitement d'images de films est proposée. Un modèle de combustion de brouillard est ensuite utilise pour prédire l'écoulement réactif. La comparaison des diamètres et des concentrations calculées avec les données disponibles s'avère encourageante. La simulation numérique permet enfin de proposer une explication à l'existence de régimes de combustion différents.
