Nous avons ainsi défini un ensemble de facteurs de mérite qui dépendent de plusieurs paramètres physiques : propriétés électro-optique, conductivité thermique et électrique... Dans un second temps, nous avons mis au point une technique de caractérisation EO basée sur la réponse temporelle du matériau à des échelons de tensions permettant l'obtention des différentes contributions (acoustique et ionique). Nous avons ensuite déterminé les différents facteurs de mérite pour plusieurs cristaux susceptibles d'intégrer une cellule de Pockels : LiNbO3 dans les deux compositions congruente et stoechiométrique, LiTaO3, KTP et BBO. L'ensemble de cette étude a mis en évidence l'avantage d'utiliser un cristal de LiNbO3 stoechiométrique dans une cellule de Pockels.

"Silent cinema" may rarely have been silent, but the sheer diversity of sound(s) and sound/image relations characterizing the first 20 years of moving picture exhibition can still astonish us. Whether instrumental, vocal, or mechanical, sound ranged from the improvised to the pre-arranged (as in scripts, scores, and cue sheets).
