Book Synopsis Investment and Factor Demand by : P. Artus
Download or read book Investment and Factor Demand written by P. Artus and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-05-07 with total page 319 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first part of the book presents the estimation of traditional models of investment, their interpretation in the light of the disequilibrium theory and their use in evaluating the economic policies implemented during the seventies. The issue of the best representation of the production technology is also addressed. The second part analyses the interdependance of the decisions of investment, employment and consumption of raw materials using simultaneous estimations of factor demand equations, as well as the dynamic adjustment costs firms are facing. The last section illustrates the most recent theories and econometric methods: investment models with several regimes taking into account sales, employment and financing constraints, and the introduction of the uncertainty on future sales.

Book excerpt: This paper examines how the effects of fiscal policies are transmitted internationally. The analysis emphasizes that fiscal shifts of recent years constitute major disturbances to saving and investment flows. An increase in a country's fiscal deficit corresponds to a higher level of public sector dissaving. For increased foreign saving to enter through the capital account, the current account deficit must rise via an appreciating real exchange rate. An autonomous rise in investment, such as that induced by US tax measures passed in 1981–1982, produces qualitatively similar effects in the short run. Simulations suggest that a permanent fiscal deficit reduction of 1 percent of capacity output in any one of the three largest industrial countries produces a significant decline in real interest rates and a large initial depreciation in that country's currency. US tax incentives for investment would induce higher interest rates and an appreciated dollar. Simulations of the combined effects of increased US investment and observed movements in inflation-adjusted deficits in all three countries in 1981–1985 suggest that substantial fractions of these interest and exchange rate movements were related to shifts in fiscal policy.

Book Synopsis Stabilization Policy in France and the Federal Republic of Germany by : G. de Ménil
Download or read book Stabilization Policy in France and the Federal Republic of Germany written by G. de Ménil and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 392 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The object of this book is to compare the macroeconomic characteristics of the French and German economies. It focusses on the effect of stabilization policy and of international disturbances and tries to find out the trade-offs of economic policy. The study is based on a simulation analysis using large-scale econometric models of the two countries. Instead of using models as black boxes the dynamic structures are compared in considerable detail. This entails decomposing the models into blocs of strategic sets of equations. Comparing bloc by bloc allows one to distinguish between the contribution of various economic processes (price-wage dynamics, monetary mechanism, multiplier-accelerator interaction) to macroeconomic performance. Main features: Franco-German comparison of macroeconomic response to policy measures and international shocks; Evaluation of policy trade-offs; Detailed institutional and historical background to macro-policy in France and Germany.

Book Synopsis Les paradoxes de l'économie du savoir by : GUILHON Bernard
Download or read book Les paradoxes de l'économie du savoir written by GUILHON Bernard and published by Lavoisier. This book was released on 2012-09-14 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
