Eran historias en verso, a las que denominamos cantares de gesta. Tal es el caso del Cantar de Mio Cid. Casi todos esos cantares se perdieron pues en lugar de aquellos fragmentos (los romances) o en libros de Historia de la época (las crónicas). Así es cmo hemos podido recrear Los siete infantes de Lara y El cerco de Zamora. Más tarde nos llegaron la historias de caballeros andantes. A finales de la Edad Media «hicieron furor» en toda Europa. Sirvan como muestra éstas que te ofrecemos: Lohengrín y Lanzarote del Lago. Parece evidente que nuestros antepasados se entregaban a la ficción de forma verdaderamente intensa, soñaban más. En todo caso, la lectura de estos relatos nos hará soñar como a nuestros viejísimos abuelos.
