La vitivinicultura mundialmente experimenta un cambio con una reduccion de la cantidad de vino consumido y un incremento en la calidad. Paises con poca historia como consumidores como el Reino Unido, naciones del norte de Europa y EE UU aumentan el consumo de esta bebida y la tendencia se orienta hacia los vinos de calidad. Se eligio el mercado del Reino Unido porque en el confluyen los principales productores mundiales, debido al alto nivel de consumo y el prestigio que implica la participacion en ese pais. Esta tesis analiza las estrategias competitivas de las empresas vitivinicolas que influyen en el desempeno exportador de vinos argentinos de calidad al mercado de dicho pais. Para ello se complementa el marco teorico sobre competitividad desarrollado por Porter, con los analisis entre actores de cadenas agroalimentarias formulados por Goldberg, Zylbersztajn, Cetrangolo entre otros.

The fundamental aim of the book is to conduct a review of the past and present usage of the concept of social metabolism, its origins and history, as well as the main currents or schools that exist around this concept. At the same time, the reviews and discussions included are used by the authors as starting points to draw conclusions and propose a theory of socio-ecological transformations. The theoretical and methodological innovations of this book include a distinction of two types of metabolic processes: tangible and intangible; the analysis of the social metabolism at different scales (in space and time) and a theory of socio-ecological change overcoming the merely “systemic” or “cybernetic” nature of conventional approaches, giving special protagonism to collective action.

Michael Herzfeld takes us inside a rich variety of small-town Cretan artisans' workshops to show how apprentices are systematically thwarted into learning by stealth and guile. This harsh training reinforces a stereotype of artisans as rude and uncultured. Moreover, the same stereotypes that marginalize artisans locally also operate to marginalize Cretans within the Greek nation and Greece itself within the international community.
