This book was released on 1976 with total page 24 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The boundary value problem for a nonlinear, strongly coupled, parabolic system of differential equations in a box is considered. The system consists of 2 equations with 3 unknowns. The right sides of the differential equation satisfy Lipschitz conditions. Error bounds for an approximate solution are given. A uniqueness theorem is proven. The results are derived with the aid of the theory of differential inequalities and by using a theorem of Kolmogorov for the solution of the Landau problem.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This contributed volume honors the 80th birthday of Frank Stenger who established new Sinc methods in numerical analysis. The contributions, written independently from each other, show the new developments in numerical analysis in connection with Sinc methods and approximations of solutions for differential equations, boundary value problems, integral equations, integrals, linear transforms, eigenvalue problems, polynomial approximations, computations on polyhedra, and many applications. The approximation methods are exponentially converging compared with standard methods and save resources in computation. They are applicable in many fields of science including mathematics, physics, and engineering. The ideas discussed serve as a starting point in many different directions in numerical analysis research and applications which will lead to new and unprecedented results. This book will appeal to a wide readership, from students to specialized experts.

Book Synopsis Nonlinear Second Order Parabolic Equations by : Mingxin Wang
Download or read book Nonlinear Second Order Parabolic Equations written by Mingxin Wang and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2021-04-26 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The parabolic partial differential equations model one of the most important processes in the real-world: diffusion. Whether it is the diffusion of energy in space-time, the diffusion of species in ecology, the diffusion of chemicals in biochemical processes, or the diffusion of information in social networks, diffusion processes are ubiquitous and crucial in the physical and natural world as well as our everyday lives. This book is self-contained and covers key topics such as theory and Schauder theory, maximum principle, comparison principle, regularity and uniform estimates, initial-boundary value problems of semilinear parabolic scalar equations and weakly coupled parabolic systems, the upper and lower solutions method, monotone properties and long-time behaviours of solutions, convergence of solutions and stability of equilibrium solutions, global solutions and finite time blowup. It also touches on periodic boundary value problems, free boundary problems, and semigroup theory. The book covers major theories and methods of the field, including topics that are useful but hard to find elsewhere. This book is based on tried and tested teaching materials used at the Harbin Institute of Technology over the past ten years. Special care was taken to make the book suitable for classroom teaching as well as for self-study among graduate students. About the Author: Mingxin Wang is Professor of Mathematics at Harbin Institute of Technology, China. He has published ten monographs and textbooks and 260 papers. He is also a supervisor of 30 PhD students.
Book Synopsis Nonlinear Parabolic Equations and Hyperbolic-Parabolic Coupled Systems by : Songmu Zheng
Download or read book Nonlinear Parabolic Equations and Hyperbolic-Parabolic Coupled Systems written by Songmu Zheng and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2019-12-02 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph is devoted to the global existence, uniqueness and asymptotic behaviour of smooth solutions to both initial value problems and initial boundary value problems for nonlinear parabolic equations and hyperbolic parabolic coupled systems. Most of the material is based on recent research carried out by the author and his collaborators. The book can be divided into two parts. In the first part, the results on decay of solutions to nonlinear parabolic equations and hyperbolic parabolic coupled systems are obtained, and a chapter is devoted to the global existence of small smooth solutions to fully nonlinear parabolic equations and quasilinear hyperbolic parabolic coupled systems. Applications of the results to nonlinear thermoelasticity and fluid dynamics are also shown. Some nonlinear parabolic equations and coupled systems arising from the study of phase transitions are investigated in the second part of the book. The global existence, uniqueness and asymptotic behaviour of smooth solutions with arbitrary initial data are obtained. The final chapter is further devoted to related topics: multiplicity of equilibria and the existence of a global attractor, inertial manifold and inertial set. A knowledge of partial differential equations and Sobolev spaces is assumed. As an aid to the reader, the related concepts and results are collected and the relevant references given in the first chapter. The work will be of interest to researchers and graduate students in pure and applied mathematics, mathematical physics and applied sciences.

Book Synopsis Maximum Principles and Sharp Constants for Solutions of Elliptic and Parabolic Systems by : Gershon Kresin
Download or read book Maximum Principles and Sharp Constants for Solutions of Elliptic and Parabolic Systems written by Gershon Kresin and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2012-08-15 with total page 330 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The main goal of this book is to present results pertaining to various versions of the maximum principle for elliptic and parabolic systems of arbitrary order. In particular, the authors present necessary and sufficient conditions for validity of the classical maximum modulus principles for systems of second order and obtain sharp constants in inequalities of Miranda-Agmon type and in many other inequalities of a similar nature. Somewhat related to this topic are explicit formulas for the norms and the essential norms of boundary integral operators. The proofs are based on a unified approach using, on one hand, representations of the norms of matrix-valued integral operators whose target spaces are linear and finite dimensional, and, on the other hand, on solving certain finite dimensional optimization problems. This book reflects results obtained by the authors, and can be useful to research mathematicians and graduate students interested in partial differential equations.

This book was released on 2012-02-28 with total page 181 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents recent results on nonlinear parabolic-hyperbolic coupled systems such as the compressible Navier-Stokes equations, and liquid crystal system.
