This book was released on 2014-12-01 with total page 27 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Seminar paper from the year 2014 in the subject Business economics - Business Management, Corporate Governance, grade: 1,0, Hamburg University of Applied Sciences, course: Academic Research and Writing, language: English, abstract: Over the last decades, business formation became a possibility for everyone, Günter Faltin states in his book Brains versus Capital. Recently, the traditional perception of an entrepreneur is changing from a suit-wearing businessman with various abilities in all departments of a company to an innovative ‘head of delegation’. With the aid of components in various departments like accounting and human resource management, an entrepreneur can establish a business with expertise. Consequently, different ventures have to be considered to develop a convenient concept and to avoid the risk of failing. The findings show that a convincing and sophisticated concept, so-called entrepreneurial design, is to be considered more important for the success of a company than the amount of capital at disposal. In times of fast global intercommunication, it is easier to access information and to realise one’s concept than it ever was. Intellectual capital gains more relevance whereas financing becomes a minor matter.

Book Synopsis Development under Dualism and Digital Divide in Twenty-First Century India by : Dilip Dutta
Download or read book Development under Dualism and Digital Divide in Twenty-First Century India written by Dilip Dutta and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-09-16 with total page 211 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After first analysing the economic development processes of emerging Asian economies in general, this book explores the development implications of India’s seventy years (1947-2017) of socio-economic policy regimes. It discusses structural dualism and the digital divide, which it identifies as the major socio-economic structural elements of the Indian economy, along with the external forces of globalisation. Since the adoption of comprehensive economic reforms in 1991, India has been liberalising its economy, due in part to the rising pressures of globalisation. However, critics have argued that Indian liberalisation policy has aggravated unemployment, regional inequality and poverty, and also increased India’s external vulnerability. This book tests the validity of these arguments, and provides readers a deeper understanding of the structural and institutional elements of the articulation of Indian society. It also examines the paradoxical political and economic effects of the information and communication (ICT ) industry in India, due to the economic disparities between the beneficiaries of the ICT windfall and those unable to reap those benefits. Lastly, by investigating the integration of key traditional sectors into modern sectors, the book provides policy suggestions for tackling the sectoral and segmental disarticulation that currently characterises Indian society.

Book excerpt: Social intelligence is defined as the ability to be aware of relevant social situational contexts; to deal with the contexts or challenges effectively; to understand others’ concerns, feelings, and emotional states; and to interact appropriately in social situations and build and maintain positive relationships with others. Intelligence, Sustainability, and Strategic Issues in Management analytically discusses this concept within administrative and entrepreneurial managerial business environments. The seven other articles cover a range of topics, including a neurocognitive model of entrepreneurial opportunity, ownership dilution, sustainability in inventory management, the role of status in imitative behavior, the negative impacts of embeddedness, product quality failures in international sourcing, and employers’ use of social media in employment decisions. In addition to the articles, the volume also features a case study, “From Social Entrepreneur to Social Enterprise,” a research note, “Reducing Job Burnout through Effective Conflict Management Strategy,” five book reviews, and a list of books received.

This book was released on 2015-04-15 with total page 784 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Research-based investigations of creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship have the potential to inform each other and enrich our knowledge of each of these areas, particularly with regard to cognitive processes and effective behaviors. Yet, while these research streams have increasingly received a great deal of attention, they have developed largely independently of one another. The Oxford Handbook of Creativity, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship addresses the critical need to integrate these three interrelated literatures. The handbook features contributions from the leading scholars in these research areas. As a group, the chapters examine the intersections of these topics to synthesize contemporary research and provide direction and stimulation for further interdisciplinary investigations of organizational creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the past six or more decades, John Friedmann has been an insurgent force in the field of urban and regional planning, transforming it from its traditional state-centered concern for establishing social and spatial order into a radical domain of collaborative action between state and civil society for creating ‘the good society’ in the present and future. By opening it up to theoretical engagement with a wide range of disciplines, Friedmann’s contributions have revolutionised planning as a transdisciplinary space of critical thinking, social learning, and reflective practice. Insurgencies and Revolutions brings together former students, close research associates, and colleagues of John Friedmann to reflect on his contributions to planning theory and practice. The volume is organized around five broad themes where Friedmann’s contributions have risen to challenge established paradigms and generated the space for revolutionary thinking and action in urban and regional planning – Theorising hope; Economic development and regionalism; World cities and the Good city; Social learning, empowered communities, and citizenship; and Chinese cities. The essays by the authors reflect their engagement with his ideas and the new directions in which they have taken these in their work in planning theory and practice.

Book Synopsis Economists and War by : Fabrizio Bientinesi
Download or read book Economists and War written by Fabrizio Bientinesi and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2016-11-03 with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: War and economic power have been interwoven in the thought of scholars since the beginnings of economic science, and views on the role of war in the economy have shifted dramatically as the world order has changed. The centenary of World War I has offered the opportunity for increased reflection on this topic, particularly as the war itself stimulated new directions for both research and the development of theory. Economists and War brings together expert contributors who are united in their commitment to exploring this classic subject from innovative and heterodox points of view. The chapters presented in the book delve into a wide range of perspectives from Japan in the Second World War and Italy in the First; the debate on State intervention among German-speaking authors to the debate on the economic bases of perpetual peace; and from Keynes, who wrote on the ‘irrationality of war’, to Sismondi, who saw war as an opportunity for economic development, and not only for nation-states. This volume is essential reading for scholars of the history of economic thought, international political economy and intellectual history. It is also of great interest to those studying military and naval history.
Book Synopsis Trade and Capital Flow among Asian Economies by : Chris Rowley
Download or read book Trade and Capital Flow among Asian Economies written by Chris Rowley and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-10-18 with total page 143 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Trade and capital are important in the Asia region. Trade in the APEC region has been increasing, but the large rise in China’s exports has also been disturbing as it exhibits export substitution. The first two papers conclude that every economy has gained in trade, though some are more successful than others. And that rise in export has a lot to do with a rise in foreign direct investments. Macroeconomic stability is the pre-condition to growth. Empirical studies show that the lack of stability has encouraged capital to flee an economy. Similarly, a market-oriented, price-driven and matured financial market provides an alternative source of funding. The lesson in economic development is that success in economic growth requires both an externally friendly market environment as well as consistent and favourable internal policies.
