Book Synopsis Unjust Enrichment by : James Edelman
Download or read book Unjust Enrichment written by James Edelman and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2016-08-25 with total page 477 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Unjust enrichment is one of the least understood of the major branches of private law. This book builds on the 2006 work by the same authors, which examined the developing law of unjust enrichment in Australia. The refinement of the authors' thinking, responding to novel issues and circumstances that have arisen in the maturing case law, has required many chapters of the book to be completely rewritten. The scope of the book is also much broader. It concerns the principles of the law of unjust enrichment in Australia, New Zealand, England and Canada. Major decisions of the highest courts of these jurisdictions in the last decade provide a fertile basis for examining the underlying principles and foundations of this subject. The book uses the leading cases, particularly in England and Australia, to distil and explain the fundamental principles of this branch of private law. The cases discussed are current as of 1 May 2016 although the most recent could only be included in footnotes.

Book Synopsis Semantic Modeling and Enrichment of Mobile and WiFi Network Data by : Abdulbaki Uzun
Download or read book Semantic Modeling and Enrichment of Mobile and WiFi Network Data written by Abdulbaki Uzun and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-07-20 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book discusses the fusion of mobile and WiFi network data with semantic technologies and diverse context sources for offering semantically enriched context-aware services in the telecommunications domain. It presents the OpenMobileNetwork as a platform for providing estimated and semantically enriched mobile and WiFi network topology data using the principles of Linked Data. This platform is based on the OpenMobileNetwork Ontology consisting of a set of network context ontology facets that describe mobile network cells as well as WiFi access points from a topological perspective and geographically relate their coverage areas to other context sources. The book also introduces Linked Crowdsourced Data and its corresponding Context Data Cloud Ontology, which is a crowdsourced dataset combining static location data with dynamic context information. Linked Crowdsourced Data supports the OpenMobileNetwork by providing the necessary context data richness for more sophisticated semantically enriched context-aware services. Various application scenarios and proof of concept services as well as two separate evaluations are part of the book. As the usability of the provided services closely depends on the quality of the approximated network topologies, it compares the estimated positions for mobile network cells within the OpenMobileNetwork to a small set of real-world cell positions. The results prove that context-aware services based on the OpenMobileNetwork rely on a solid and accurate network topology dataset. The book also evaluates the performance of the exemplary Semantic Tracking as well as Semantic Geocoding services, verifying the applicability and added value of semantically enriched mobile and WiFi network data.

Book Synopsis Wireless Connectivity by : Petar Popovski
Download or read book Wireless Connectivity written by Petar Popovski and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2020-05-04 with total page 423 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Wireless Connectivity: An Intuitive and Fundamental Guide Wireless connectivity has become an indispensable part, a commodity associated with the way we work and play. The latest developments, the 5G, next-generation Wi-Fi and Internet of Things connectivity, are the key enablers for widespread digitalization of practically all industries and public sector segments. This immense development within the last three decades have been accompanied by a large number of ideas, articles, patents, and even myths. This book introduces the most important ideas and concepts in wireless connectivity and discusses how these are interconnected, whilst the mathematical content is kept minimal. The book does not follow the established, linear structure in which one starts from the propagation and channels and then climbs up the protocol layers. The structure is, rather, nonlinear, in an attempt to follow the intuition used when one creates a new technology to solve a certain problem. The target audience is: Students in electronics, communication, and networking Wireless engineers that are specialized in one area, but want to know how the whole system works, without going through all the details and math Computer scientists that want to understand the fundamentals of wireless connectivity, the requirements and, most importantly, the limitations Engineers in energy systems, logistics, transport and other vertical sectors that are increasingly reliant on wireless technology

Book Synopsis The Defence of Passing On by : Michael Rush
Download or read book The Defence of Passing On written by Michael Rush and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2006-07-11 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The identity and existence of a loss-based defence in the law of unjust enrichment is disputed. Widely known as 'passing on', but better identified as 'disimpoverishment', this defence has generated confusion and disagreement across and within England, Australia, Canada and the United States of America. This book seeks to address these problems in three ways. First, by providing a solution to the defence's terminological problems and presenting a coherent picture of the current state of the law. Secondly, by examining whether a defendant's unjust enrichment can be said to have come 'at the expense of' a claimant when a third party has borne the cost of that enrichment. Put another way, whether awards of restitution are, or should be, restricted by the value of a claimant's loss. And finally, by analyzing the reasons in favour of accepting or rejecting a loss-based defence in the law of unjust enrichment. Numerous scholarly textbooks and law journals have devoted space to these issues. This work, however, has tended to focus narrowly on either particular cases or sets of issues. This book seeks to address this deficiency by collating, and providing total coverage of, the controversies and questions pertaining to a loss-based defence in the law of unjust enrichment. This work will be essential reading for anyone interested in the law of restitution, and in its relationship with other areas of private law.
