Book Synopsis Design Energy Simulation for Architects by : Kjell Anderson
Download or read book Design Energy Simulation for Architects written by Kjell Anderson and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2014-01-23 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Leading architectural firms are now using in-house design simulation to help make more sustainable design decisions. Taking advantage of these new tools requires understanding of what can be done with simulation, how to do it, and how to interpret the results. This software-agnostic book, which is intended for you to use as a professional architect, shows you how to reduce the energy use of all buildings using simulation for shading, daylighting, airflow, and energy modeling. Written by a practicing architect who specializes in design simulation, the book includes 30 case studies of net-zero buildings, as well as of projects with less lofty goals, to demonstrate how energy simulation has helped designers make early decisions. Within each case study, author Kjell Anderson mentions the software used, how the simulation was set up, and how the project team used the simulation to make design decisions. Chapters and case studies are written so that you learn general concepts without being tied to particular software. Each chapter builds on the theory from previous chapters, includes a summary of concept-level hand calculations (if applicable), and gives comprehensive explanations with graphic examples. Additional topics include simulation basics, comfort, climate analysis, a discussion on how simulation is integrated into some firms, and an overview of some popular design simulation software.
Download or read book Computer Graphics written by Neeta Nain and published by Vikas Publishing House. This book was released on with total page 470 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book adopts a conceptual approach to computer graphics, with emphasis on mathematical concepts and their applications. It introduces an abstract paradigm that relates the mathematical concepts with computer graphic techniques and implementation methods. This model is intended to help the reader understand the mathematical concepts and their practical use. However, mathematical complexity has not been allowed to dominate. The haul mark of the book is its profuse solved examples which aid in the understanding of mathematical concepts. The text is supplemented with introduction to various graphics standards, animation, multimedia techniques and fractals. These topics are of immense use in each of the three visual disciplines: modeling transformations, projections and multi-view geometry for computer vision. Geometry of lines, vectors and planes is essential for any geometric computation problem, light and illumination for image-based rendering, and hidden surface removal. Almost every chapter has the working source code to illustrate the concepts, which could be written and used as small programs for better understanding of the topics. A concise appendix of open source OpenGL is also included to showcase programming concepts of computer graphics and visualization. The text is completely platform-independent and the only prerequisite is the knowledge of coordinate geometry and basic algebra. It will be useful both as a text and reference, thus it can easily be used by novices and experienced practitioners alike.

Book Synopsis Graphics Recognition. Recent Advances by : Atul K. Chhabra
Download or read book Graphics Recognition. Recent Advances written by Atul K. Chhabra and published by Springer. This book was released on 2003-06-29 with total page 343 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This edited volume contains refereed and improved versions of select papers 1 that were presented at the third IAPR Workshop on Graphics Recognition (GREC’99), held at Rambagh Palace in Jaipur, India, 26–27, September 1999. The workshop was organized by the TC10 (Technical Committee on Graphics Recognition) of the IAPR. Edited volumes from the previous two workshops in this series are also available as Lecture Notes in Computer Science (volumes 1072 and 1389). Graphics recognition is the study of techniques for computer interpretation of images of line drawings and symbols. This includes methods such as vectori- tion, symbol recognition, and table and chart recognition for applications such as engineering drawings, schematics, logic drawings, maps, diagrams, and musical scores. Some recently developed techniques include graphics-based information or drawing retrieval and recognition of online graphical strokes. With the recent advances in the ?eld, there is now a need to develop benchmarks for evaluating and comparing algorithms and systems. Graphics recognition is a growing ?eld of interest in the broader document image recognition community. The GREC’99 workshop was attended by ?fty-?ve people from ?fteen co- tries. The workshop program consisted of six technical sessions. Each session began with a half-hour invited talk which was followed by several short talks. Each session closed with a half-hour panel discussion where the authors ?elded questions from the other participants. Several interesting new research directions were discussed at the workshop.
