Book Synopsis Annulus Wall Boundary Layers in Turbomachines by : J. H. Horlock
Download or read book Annulus Wall Boundary Layers in Turbomachines written by J. H. Horlock and published by . This book was released on 1974 with total page 80 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The paper reviews a substantial body of fundamental and applied research work on the subject of annulus wall boundary layers in turbomachines. A product of this work is a method for predicting, with reasonable accuracy, the full three-dimensional boundary layer that develops through a single blade row. The limitations of the method are discussed in relation to the experimental information available to the authors. In Part 2 the fundamental work is subjected to scrutiny in order to extract a boundary layer calculation method suitable for estimating the effects of annulus wall boundary layers on the performance of turbomachines. It is shown that a great many assumptions and simplifications are necessary at the present time but that reasonably satisfactory estimates are nevertheless possible. A computer program for the estimation of annulus blockage is listed.

Book Synopsis Radial Flow Turbocompressors by : Michael Casey
Download or read book Radial Flow Turbocompressors written by Michael Casey and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2021-06-10 with total page 789 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An introduction to the theory and engineering practice that underpins the component design and analysis of radial flow turbocompressors. Drawing upon an extensive theoretical background and years of practical experience, the authors provide descriptions of applications, concepts, component design, analysis tools, performance maps, flow stability, and structural integrity, with illustrative examples. Features wide coverage of all types of radial compressor over many applications unified by the consistent use of dimensional analysis. Discusses the methods needed to analyse the performance, flow, and mechanical integrity that underpin the design of efficient centrifugal compressors with good flow range and stability. Includes explanation of the design of all radial compressor components, including inlet guide vanes, impellers, diffusers, volutes, return channels, de-swirl vanes and side-streams. Suitable as a reference for advanced students of turbomachinery, and a perfect tool for practising mechanical and aerospace engineers already within the field and those just entering it.

Book Synopsis Turbomachinery Flow Physics and Dynamic Performance by : Meinhard T. Schobeiri
Download or read book Turbomachinery Flow Physics and Dynamic Performance written by Meinhard T. Schobeiri and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2004-11-12 with total page 535 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the past three decades turbomachines experienced a steep increase in efficiency and performance. Based on fundamental principles of turbomachinery thermo-fluid mechanics, numerous CFD based calculation methods are being developed to simulate the complex 3-dimensional, highly unsteady turbulent flow within turbine or compressor stages. The objective of this book is to present the fundamental principals of turbomachinery fluid-thermodynamic design process of turbine and compressor components, power generation and aircraft gas turbines in a unified and compact manner. The book provides senior undergraduate students, graduate students and engineers in the turbomachinery industry with a solid background of turbomachinery flow physics and performance fundamentals that are essential for understanding turbomachinery performance and flow complexes.
Book Synopsis Turbine Aerodynamics by : Ronald H. Aungier
Download or read book Turbine Aerodynamics written by Ronald H. Aungier and published by American Society of Mechanical Engineers. This book was released on 2006 with total page 424 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a thorough description of actual, working aerodynamic design and analysis systems, for both axial-flow and radial-flow turbines. It describes the basic fluid dynamic and thermodynamic principles, empirical models and numerical methods used for the full range of procedures and analytical tools that an engineer needs for virtually any type of aerodynamic design or analysis activity for both types of turbine. The book includes sufficient detail for readers to implement all or part of the systems. The author provides practical and effective design strategies for applying both turbine types, which are illustrated by design examples. Comparisons with experimental results are included to demonstrate the prediction accuracy to be expected. This book is intended for practicing engineers concerned with the design and development of turbines and related machinery.
Book Synopsis Axial-flow Compressors by : Ronald H. Aungier
Download or read book Axial-flow Compressors written by Ronald H. Aungier and published by American Society of Mechanical Engineers. This book was released on 2003 with total page 386 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a thorough description of an aerodynamic design and analysis systems for Axial-Flow Compressors. It describes the basic fluid dynamic and thermodynamic principles, empirical models and numerical methods used for the full range of procedures and analytical tools that an engineer needs for virtually any tupe of Axial-Flow Compressor, aerodynamic design or analysis activity. It reviews and evaluates several design strategies that have been recommended in the literature or which have been found to be effective. It gives a complete description of an actual working system, such that readers can implement all or part of the system. Engineers responsible for developing, maintaining of improving design and analysis systems can benefit greatly from this type of reference. The technology has become so complex and the role of computers so pervasive that about the only way this can be done today is to concentrate on a specific design and analysis system. The author provides practical methodology as well as the details needed to implement the suggested procedures.
Book Synopsis Boundary Layer Effects in Turbomachines by : Jean Surugue
Download or read book Boundary Layer Effects in Turbomachines written by Jean Surugue and published by . This book was released on 1972 with total page 516 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The report is a study organized by the AGARD Propulsion and Energetics Panel with the collaboration of the Fluid Dynamics Panel and contains the papers, discussions and conclusions from the culminating meeting held at ONERA, France, during April 1972. The study provided opportunities for fruitful exchanges between aerodynamicists and engine specialists concerned with turbomachines, from the major aeronautical nations within NATO. The study resulted in clarification of the current states of knowledge within the two specialities relevant to turbomachines and highlighted the interest and importance of past and current research, while the discussions indicated a number of avenues for further work.
