Download or read book Diagnostic Endoscopy written by Haishan Zeng and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2013-12-09 with total page 280 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Combining a professional development course on diagnostic endoscopy from SPIE (the international society advancing light-based research) and the authors’ graduate course on biomedical optics, this work is written for researchers in medical optics and biomedical engineering as well as graduate medical optics students. It uses extensive examples/case studies to familiarize readers with the basics of endoscopic optics, the pros and cons of white light endoscopy and fluorescence endoscopy for diagnostic applications, and various microscopic endoscopy imaging modalities. It covers basic optics, details of design and biomedical uses, as well as microscopic endoscopy, and endoscopic spectroscopy.
Book Synopsis Novel Optical Endoscopes for Early Cancer Diagnosis and Therapy by : Dale Jonathan Waterhouse
Download or read book Novel Optical Endoscopes for Early Cancer Diagnosis and Therapy written by Dale Jonathan Waterhouse and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-07-09 with total page 142 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis describes the design, development, characterisation and clinical translation of three novel devices for optical endoscopic imaging. Over the past decade, rapid innovation in optics and photonics has led to the availability of low-cost and high-performance optical technologies that can be exploited for biomedical applications, but relatively few have been translated into clinic. The work presented outlines for the first time, a comprehensive analysis of the common barriers and unique challenges associated with the translation of optical imaging techniques. To assist developers streamline translation of optical imaging devices in future, a roadmap to clinical translation is outlined, and key translational characteristics are defined. Guided by these, subsequent development of endoscopic devices resulted in preparation and approval of endoscopes for first in human trials in the oesophagus, for early detection of cancer, and in the brain, for delineation of tumour during surgical resection. The thesis culminates in the presentation of results from the first in human use of a compact multispectral endoscope for imaging endogenous tissue contrast in the oesophagus. With continuation of the work as outlined at the end of this thesis, the novel techniques described have the potential to improve the standard of care in their respective indications.

Book Synopsis Comprehensive Atlas of High-Resolution Endoscopy and Narrowband Imaging by : Jonathan Cohen
Download or read book Comprehensive Atlas of High-Resolution Endoscopy and Narrowband Imaging written by Jonathan Cohen and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2017-04-17 with total page 497 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Previous edition won First Prize in the Gastroenterology category of the 2008 BMA Medical Book Competition High-resolution endoscopy and narrowband imaging have revolutionized the field. Edited by a gastroenterologist with a reputation for delivering outstanding material, this new edition of an award-winning atlas provides you with an outstanding collection of images, videos, and expert diagnostic guidance to enhance your decision making. To accelerate your learning, Dr. Cohen offers more than 2000 endoscopic images, emphasizing conditions for which NBI is particularly useful – such as finding dysplasia in Barrett's mucosa, and diagnosing adenomatous colon polyps – and providing exceptional preparation for the future of endoscopy practice, with a broad new look at normal and abnormal findings throughout the GI tract. The book is divided into three main parts: The basics of NBI Clinical applications of NBI Atlas of 1600 color images, broken into sections on the pharynx and esophagus, stomach, small intestine, and colon, including correlating histopathology and multiple examples of key pathologies The accompanying website features more than 85 video clips containing over 3 hours of annotated video, to give you a complete sense of how HRE and NBI work and look in real time, including during therapeutic procedures. All of the over 1000 new images appear in much brighter color, reflecting the advance in scope technology since the first edition. New chapters have been added to present the data supporting increased use of NBI in optical diagnosis and in the context of therapeutic procedures. For the first time, brilliant images of the bile duct and pancreas are included as the imaging revolution has expanded to reach these new locations. This spectacular new imaging modality promises to enhance endoscopic decision making in real time, facilitate therapeutic maneuvers, make tissue sampling more precise, and make resection of mucosal neoplasia more complete. Expertly guiding you through the latest advances, this book facilitates your mastery of the field, and provides an up-to-date reference for gastroenterologists and endoscopists to improve their practice.

This book was released on 2009 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Endoscopic imaging has become an important clinical tool for the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal diseases and is poised to advance in a revolutionary fashion in the next few years. The articles in this issue are a result of an ASGE Imaging workshop held in early 2008. The goal of the workshop, and this issue, is to bring together clinical investigators and biophotonics engineers to help develop and clinically apply enhanced imaging technologies for the eventual benefit of patients. Articles in this issue are devoted to chromoendoscopy, autofluorescence endoscopy, reflectance spectroscopy, optical coherence tomography, laser confocal microscopy, and targeted endoscopic imaging to name a few.
