More amazing, all were critical and/or box office successes. What accounts for this explosion of interest? Much of the appeal of these films lies in our nostalgic desire at the end of the millennium for an age of greater politeness and sexual reticence. Austen's ridicule of deceit and pretentiousness also appeals to our fin de siècle sensibilities. Five years later he moved to Ogden, Utah, arriving on the second immigrant train to reach the Salt Lake Valley. In 1878 he was called on a mission to Australia, and served his mission in New Zealand. He organized the New Zealand mission and was witness to many miracles during that time. He was later ordained a patriarch in his home stake in Ogden.
