Book Synopsis World-Class Grooming for Horses by : Cat Hill
Download or read book World-Class Grooming for Horses written by Cat Hill and published by Trafalgar Square Books. This book was released on 2019-11-15 with total page 250 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When owning, training, riding, and showing horses, there is a certain “look” to which one aspires. World-class “turnout”—a horse in peak condition, perfectly coiffed and luminous with health, outfitted with gleaming and well-fit tack appropriate for his sport—can take your breath away. And while it can certainly play a significant role in a competitive rider’s success, it is just as appealing to have any horse “groomed to the nines,” whether he’s headed for an afternoon lesson or just out on the trail. Achieving this superior look is not just about clean tack, shiny brass, spotless stockings, or perfect braids. The most important steps are in the day-to-day nitty-gritty of grooming and caring for the horse: noticing “something not-quite-right” about the way the horse looks or moves before it becomes “something wrong”; brushing and combing and trimming a little every day so the horse’s skin and coat remain healthy; knowing how to prepare a horse properly for training, and how to cool him down afterward. Now, two of the best professional grooms in the business share their trade secrets, with over 1200 color photographs accompanying the ultimate modern-day guide for all riders who want their horses to look and feel their best.

This book was released on 1995-09-01 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most Quarter Horse breeders and breed experts believe that in the production of great Quarter Horses one should never underestimate the importance of the dam. They are convinced that, in the long run,"the distaff side of the pedigree is the one to watch." They agree that one reason for the eminence of the Quarter Horse in racing, show, arena, and breed competition is the quality of the dams who helped found the breed and give it the unique conformation and blazing speed on the short track. This book, filled with treasured anecdotes and track legends, will join its companion volume on the sires as an indispensable source for Quarter Horse breeders, owners, and racetrack and rodeo enthusiats, as well as for historians of the horse and its role in the Americas.
Book Synopsis Cracker Horses and Cattle by : Carol Matthews
Download or read book Cracker Horses and Cattle written by Carol Matthews and published by Arcadia Publishing. This book was released on 2023-10-16 with total page 147 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Join author Carol Matthews on a galloping romp through the long history of Florida’s cracker horses and cattle. The first horses and cattle to set foot on the North American continent stepped onto Florida land, brought by Spanish explorer Juan Ponce de Leon in 1521 just south of present day Fort Myers. The animals were abandoned, formed wild herds and would be used by different groups for food, work, trade and transportation for the next 500 years. Cattle ranching was born when Jesuit and Franciscan Friars, also known as missionaries, set up a system of missions across north and north-central Florida. The largest ranch was Rancho de la Chua, located on what is now Paynes Prairie in Alachua County. As a result of this increase in cattle production, Florida rancheros began to sell cattle to Cuba. This was the first industry to develop in the New World and would continue for the next three hundred years. By the 1960s there were only a handful of pure cracker cattle and horses left. But herds were established on state lands, preserving a living link to Florida's past.

But what does Cade feel about her? Can he truly love her - and her curves? EXCERPT: “Anything else I can do?” Emma looked around the barn. To her regret, she couldn’t think of a single thing. Except, kiss me. She slowly shook her head. “No.” “Well, I guess I’ll be going.” His tone sounded reluctant. It must have been her imagination. She raised her eyes, his emerald gaze ensnaring her. He suddenly seemed to be standing much closer to her. “You’ve got a smudge.” His thumb caressed her cheek. She couldn’t help the husky tone in her voice. “Is…is it gone?” “Let me see.” His eyes gleamed with desire as he bent his head toward hers. “All gone,“ he murmured. “Except for here.” His lips brushed hers. Excitement rippled through her as he deepened the kiss, claiming her mouth. His strong, capable arms wrapped around her waist, pulling her even closer. She surrendered to the kiss, her hands clasping his shoulders as he explored the secrets of her mouth. Her legs wobbled, making her grateful he held her so securely… This is a sexy contemporary romance novelette of approximately 11,600 words.
