Download or read book A lázadás hangjai written by John Scalzi and published by Agave. This book was released on 2014 with total page 596 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Eközben a Gyarmati Szövetség mûködése is veszélybe kerül.

A kötetben a vészkorszak – elsősorban magyar vonatkozású – eseményei 12 témára bontva szerepelnek.
Book Synopsis Congregational Music-Making and Community in a Mediated Age by : Anna E. Nekola
Download or read book Congregational Music-Making and Community in a Mediated Age written by Anna E. Nekola and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-05-23 with total page 261 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Congregational music can be an act of praise, a vehicle for theology, an action of embodied community, as well as a means to a divine encounter. This multidisciplinary anthology approaches congregational music as media in the widest sense - as a multivalent communication action with technological, commercial, political, ideological and theological implications, where processes of mediated communication produce shared worlds and beliefs. Bringing together a range of voices, promoting dialogue across a range of disciplines, each author approaches the topic of congregational music from his or her own perspective, facilitating cross-disciplinary connections while also showcasing a diversity of outlooks on the roles that music and media play in Christian experience. The authors break important new ground in understanding the ways that music, media and religious belief and praxis become ’lived theology’ in our media age, revealing the rich and diverse ways that people are living, experiencing and negotiating faith and community through music.

Book Synopsis Paradise from behind the Iron Curtain by : Miklós Péti
Download or read book Paradise from behind the Iron Curtain written by Miklós Péti and published by UCL Press. This book was released on 2022-08-08 with total page 299 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Paradise from behind the Iron Curtain provides a detailed survey of the key responses to Milton’s work in Hungarian state socialism. The four decades between 1948 and 1989 saw a radical revision of previous critical and artistic positions and resulted in the emergence of some characteristically Eastern European responses to Milton’s works. Critical and artistic appraisals of Milton’s works in the communist era proved more controversial than receptions of other major Western authors: on the one hand, Milton’s participation in the Civil War earned him the title of a ‘revolutionary hero,’ on the other hand, religious aspects of his works were often disregarded and sometimes proactively suppressed. Ranging through all the genres of Milton’s oeuvre as well as the critical tradition, the book highlights these diverging responses and places them in the wider context of socialist cultural policy. In addition, the author presents the full Hungarian script of the 1970 theatrical performance of Milton’s Paradise Lost, the first of its kind since the work’s publication, including a parallel English translation, which enables a deeper reflection on Milton’s original theodicy and its possible interpretations in communist Hungary.
Book Synopsis You who live in the shelter of the Most High (Ps. 91:1) by : Ida Fröhlich

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Biblical Psalms are a common heritage of Jewish and Christian cultures. Serving for the common liturgy of the Jerusalem Temple and individual prayers since biblical times they inspired Hebrew poetical language. The Qumran community, as well as Jewish and Christian communities of Late Antiquity attributed to them a special authority and apotropaic function. Quoted and interpreted in various ways in the New Testament and Rabbinic tradition they had a fundamental role in regular liturgies since the Middle Ages. Referred to in medical texts, recited on pilgrimages and at funeral vigils they represented an important aspect of folk religion and the formation of religious identity. The present volume is intended to show the many ways the Psalms were used and enjoyed a lasting popularity in regular and folk religion, collectively and individually, from antiquity until today.
Book Synopsis Memory in Hungarian Fascism by : Zoltán Kékesi
Download or read book Memory in Hungarian Fascism written by Zoltán Kékesi and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2023-06-09 with total page 162 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Memory in Hungarian Fascism: A Cultural History argues that fascist memory had a key role in the historical formation and later return of fascism. Tracing the trajectory of a perennial figure of fascist memory, the cult of Eszter Sólymosi, from interwar Hungary through the Cold War West to contemporary Hungary, the book covers a century of fascism and offers a unique combination of fascism studies and memory studies. How did fascists challenge liberal memory after the First World War? How did the memory culture they created come to frame and feed the Second World War and the genocide? In what ways did fascist memory transform as they navigated the challenges of exile in a profoundly changed political landscape and tried to counter the postwar order? And what role did their legacy, carefully crafted for a post-Communist future, play as later neo-fascists rejected democratic transformation? Eventually, as fascist memory traveled across time and space, the book argues, it contributed to the political challenges that we face today. Based on a variety of unpublished sources, the book offers new insights for students of memory, Holocaust, fascism, and antisemitism studies, Jewish studies, Central and Eastern European history, and Hungarian studies.
