Book Synopsis Proceedings of the 11th International Conference on Vacuum Ultraviolet Radiation Physics by : T. Miyahara
Download or read book Proceedings of the 11th International Conference on Vacuum Ultraviolet Radiation Physics written by T. Miyahara and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 590 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These volumes contain 365 of the 505 papers presented at the VUV-11 Conference, held at Rikkyo University, Tokyo, from August 27th to September 1st 1995. The papers are divided into three sections: atomic and molecular spectroscopy, solid state spectroscopy and instrumentation and technological applications. New aspects presented were both quantitative and qualitative improvements in fluorescence spectroscopy and magnetic circular dichroism measurements. The fluorescence data are complementary to those of photoemission in a sense but they appear to open up a new method to analyze the optical excitation and relaxation processes. The application of magnetic circular dichroism has proved to be useful not only in analyzing the electronic structures of magnetic materials but also in practical applications to material engineering as found in experiments combined with photoelectron microscopy. Excellent developments in applications are only found in the field of surface photochemistry, where the technique of etching using VUV light has been appreciably refined. Although the majority of distinctive scientific features in the VUV-11 Conference have been brought about by the application of synchrotron radiation, experiments using a different type of light source appear to have progressed steadily. This is evident in the studies of plasma radiation.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This two-volume set of LNCS 13393 and LNCS 13394 constitutes - in conjunction with the volume LNAI 13395 - the refereed proceedings of the 18th International Conference on Intelligent Computing, ICIC 2022, held in Xi'an, China, in August 2022. The 209 full papers of the three proceedings volumes were carefully reviewed and selected from 449 submissions. This year, the conference concentrated mainly on the theories and methodologies as well as the emerging applications of intelligent computing. Its aim was to unify the picture of contemporary intelligent computing techniques as an integral concept that highlights the trends in advanced computational intelligence and bridges theoretical research with applications. Therefore, the theme for this conference was “Advanced Intelligent Computing Technology and Applications”. Papers focused on this theme were solicited, addressing theories, methodologies, and applications in science and technology.

Book excerpt: NSA is a comprehensive collection of international nuclear science and technology literature for the period 1948 through 1976, pre-dating the prestigious INIS database, which began in 1970. NSA existed as a printed product (Volumes 1-33) initially, created by DOE's predecessor, the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission (AEC). NSA includes citations to scientific and technical reports from the AEC, the U.S. Energy Research and Development Administration and its contractors, plus other agencies and international organizations, universities, and industrial and research organizations. References to books, conference proceedings, papers, patents, dissertations, engineering drawings, and journal articles from worldwide sources are also included. Abstracts and full text are provided if available.
Book Synopsis Application of Accelerators in Research and Industry by : Jerome L. Duggan
Download or read book Application of Accelerators in Research and Industry written by Jerome L. Duggan and published by American Institute of Physics. This book was released on 2003-10-21 with total page 1244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These papers were peer reviewed before publication. This conference covers the use of particle accelerators in research and industry. The research applications include basic atomic and nuclear physics studies with ion beams of energies less than 10 million volts. The applications include the use of ion beams for the analysis of materials. In the proceedings, experiments are outlined for Rutherford Backscattering analysis, particle induced x-ray emission, nuclear reaction analysis and neutron activation analysis. There are also sessions devoted to accelerator technology and the development of new spectrometers and detectors. The meeting also covers radiation processing with electron beams. These topics include cross-linking, sterilization of medical disposables and food preservation by radiation. The conference also includes a medical symposium on the production and use of medical radioisotopes and a symposium on ion implantation primarily for the semiconductor industry.
Book Synopsis Molecular Spectroscopy—XI by : O. Sild
Download or read book Molecular Spectroscopy—XI written by O. Sild and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2017-01-31 with total page 255 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Molecular Spectroscopy–XI provides information pertinent to the fundamental aspects of molecular spectroscopy. This book discusses the modifications of molecular spectra when the density varies as a function of temperature and pressure. Organized into 15 chapters, this book begins with an overview of the several processes concerning triplet excitons leading to magnetic-field sensitive luminescence in organic crystals and related compounds. This text then examines the methods of investigation of the exciton band structures in molecular crystals. Other chapters consider the conditions for the equivalence of Fourier spectroscopy and of slow passage experiments in nuclear magnetic resonance. This book discusses as well the application of computer technology in carbon-13 magnetic resonance spectroscopy. The final chapter deals with the application of high-resolution proton and carbon-13 n.m.r. spectroscopy for the investigation of the molecular conformations in proteins. This book is a valuable resource for organic chemists, biologists, microbiologists, scientists, and research workers.

Book Synopsis The Physics of Ionized Gases by : Ljupco Hadzievski
Download or read book The Physics of Ionized Gases written by Ljupco Hadzievski and published by American Institute of Physics. This book was released on 2004-12-14 with total page 544 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The very nature of the Symposium on the Physics of Ionized Gases (SPIG) is to have four different fields that converge into one multidisciplinary field of the physics of ionized gases: gas phase and binary collisions, collisions with surfaces, low temperature plasmas, and collective phenomena. These four fields have strong interactions in numerous applications. However, due to the development of specialized international conferences, it has become increasingly rare that such a wide range of topics is covered at a single conference. As the four fields often overlap and merge in numerous fundamental studies and more importantly applications, SPIG serves as a venue for exchanging ideas in the four related fields. This volume contains the invited lectures, topical invited lectures, and progress reports presented at the 22nd Summer School and International Symposium on the Physics of Ionized Gases - SPIG 2004. The papers were peer reviewed by the scientific committee.
