Book Synopsis Asymptotic Methods in Electromagnetics by : Daniel Bouche
Download or read book Asymptotic Methods in Electromagnetics written by Daniel Bouche and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 540 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Numerically rigorous techniques for the computation of electromagnetic fields diffracted by an object become computationally intensive, if not impractical to handle, at high frequencies and one must resort to asymptotic methods to solve the scattering problem at short wavelengths. The asymptotic methods provide closed form expansions for the diffracted fields and are also useful for eliciting physical interpretations of the various diffraction phenomena. One of the principal objectives of this book is to discuss the different asymptotic methods in a unified manner. Although the book contains explicit formulas for computing the field diffracted by conducting or dielectric-coated objects, it also provides the mathematical foundations of the different methods and explains how they are interrelated.

Book Synopsis Plane-Wave Theory of Time-Domain Fields by : Thorkild B. Hansen
Download or read book Plane-Wave Theory of Time-Domain Fields written by Thorkild B. Hansen and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 1999-06-10 with total page 402 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This invaluable book provides a comprehensive framework for the formulation and solution ofnumerous problems involving the radiation, reception, propagation, and scattering of electromagnetic and acoustic waves. Filled with original derivations and theorems, it includes the first rigorous development of plane-wave expansions for time-domain electromagnetic and acoustic fields. For the past 35 years, near-field measurement techniques have been confined to the frequency domain. Now, with the publication of this book, probe-corrected near-field measurement techniques have been extended to ultra-wide-band, short-pulse transmitting and receiving antennas and transducers. By combining unencumbered straightforward derivations with in-depth expositions of prerequisite material, the authors have created an invaluable resource for research scientists and engineers in electromagnetics and acoustics, and a definitive reference on plane-wave expansions and near-field measurements. Featured topics include: * An introduction to the basic electromagnetic and acoustic field equations * A rigorous development of time-domain and frequency-domain plane-wave representations * The formulation of time-domain, frequency-domain, and static planar near-field measurement techniques with and without probe-correction * Sampling theorems and computation schemes for time-domain and frequency-domain fields * Analytic-signal formulas that simplify the formulation and analysis of transient fields * Wave phenomena, such as ``electromagnetic missiles"" encountered only in the time domain * Definitive force and power relations for electromagnetic and acoustic fields and sources." Book Synopsis Asymptotic and Hybrid Methods in Electromagnetics by : I. Andronov
Download or read book Asymptotic and Hybrid Methods in Electromagnetics written by I. Andronov and published by IET. This book was released on 2005-07-18 with total page 263 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Asymptotic methods provide considerable physical insight and understanding of diffraction mechanisms and are very useful in the design of electromagnetic devices such as radar targets and antennas. However, difficulties can arise when trying to solve problems using multipole and asymoptotic methods together, such as in radar crosssection objects. This new book offers a solution to this problem by combining these approaches into hybrid methods, therefore creating high demand for both understanding and learning how to apply asymptotic and hybrid methods to solve diffraction problems.

Book Synopsis Local and Metropolitan Communication Systems by : Toshiharu Hasegawa
Download or read book Local and Metropolitan Communication Systems written by Toshiharu Hasegawa and published by Springer. This book was released on 2013-03-19 with total page 477 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We are witnessing an ever-increasing thrust toward the era of multimedia information networks, largely spurred by the U.S. Government's proposal for the National Information Infrastructure in the fall of 1993. While more people are subscribing to the services of narrowband ISDN, the implementation of broadband ISDN by means of Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) has accelerated since the formation of the ATM Forum in 1993. In the meantime, frame relay may prevail for inter-LAN connections. In the "upper layer" of the network, commercial use of Internet is rapidly emerging. To ensure the successful development of technology, it is vital to use a judicious approach in assessing the architecture and performance of the systems that implement the technology. It is this spirit that underlies the present conference, which is intended to provide an international forum for the presentation of recent research results in the area of local and metropolitan communication systems. This conference has two sets of predecessors. It is the third in a series of international conferences on Local and Metropolitan Communication Systems -LAN & MAN; the first was held in Toulouse in 1986 and the second in Palma de Mallorca in 1991. It is also the fourth in a triennial series organized by Kyoto University and others on the performance of communication-related systems; the previous ones were held in Tokyo (1985) and Kyoto (1988, 1991).

Book Synopsis Microwave Remote Sensing for Oceanographic and Marine Weather-Forecast Models by : Robin A. Vaughan
Download or read book Microwave Remote Sensing for Oceanographic and Marine Weather-Forecast Models written by Robin A. Vaughan and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 409 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The power of microwave remote sensing for studying the oceans of the world was demonstrated conclusively by the SEASAT mission in 1978. Since then, no further satellite-flown instruments have been available to provide further data of this type. However, the proposed launch of ESA's ERS-1 satellite will lead to a new set of active microwave instruments being flown in space in 1990. Even though similar data has been obtained from aircraft-flown instruments SAR, scatterometers, altimeters etc. - a great deal of activity has been taking place to develop the necessary expertise in handling and analysing such data when it comes on-stream from ERS-1 and from subsequent satellites. It was against this background that the scientific Affairs Division of NATO again agreed to sponsor an ASI in Dundee in 1988. Its purpose was to review existing knowledge of the extraction of marine and atmospheric geophysical parameters from satellite-gathered microwave data and to enable scientists to prepare themselves and their computing systems to utilise the new data when it becomes available. The importance of the data is largely as input parameters to assist in the fitting of boundary conditions in large computer models. The course was concerned more with the non-imaging instruments, that is with passive radiometers, altimeters and scatterometers, than with the (imaging) synthetic aperture radar.
