Download or read book The Complete Posthumous Poetry written by César Vallejo and published by Univ of California Press. This book was released on 1980-09-29 with total page 378 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Translation judges for the National Book Awards--Richard Miller, Alastair Reid, Eliot Weinberger--cited Clayton Eshleman and Jose Rubia Barcia's translation of Cesar Vallejo's The Complete Posthumous Poetry as follows: "This, the first National Book Award to be given to a translation of modern poetry, is a recognition of Clayton Eshleman's seventeen-year apprenticeship to perhaps the most difficult poetry in the Spanish language. Eshleman and his present collaborator, Jose Rubia Barcia, have not only rendered these complex poems into brilliant and living English, but have also established a definitive Spanish test based on Vallejo's densely rewritten manuscripts. In recreating this modern master in English, they have also made a considerable addition to poetry in our language."

Book Synopsis Keys for Identifying Mexican Mammals by : Sergio Ticul Álvarez-Castañeda

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fully updated and revised, this is the bestselling comprehensive bilingual identification guide to Mexico’s diverse mammalian fauna. A remarkable achievement that took over 30 years to construct, Keys for Identifying Mexican Mammals is the only complete identification guide to Mexico’s mammalian fauna. Fully updated and revised, this bestselling book follows a bilingual arrangement, with identical information presented in Spanish and English on facing pages. The dichotomous presentation is both easy to follow and flawlessly compiled, including updated and expanded material that surpasses any previously available resource. Hundreds of diagnostic images are dispersed throughout the book, many showing minute details that differentiate one species from another, and introductory materials carefully explain the use of diagnostic features. The heart of the book, though, is the keys themselves, which cover every taxa—from artiodactyls and carnivores to primates and rodents—while allowing confident identification at the species level for both field and museum use. The book closes with appendices that cover preparation of specimens, a glossary, and a bibliography. Anyone with an interest in the mammalian fauna of Mexico, or mammals in general, will find this one-of-a-kind book an indispensable reference to Mexico’s rich diversity of wildlife.

Book Synopsis Caído del Cielo by : Samuel Pastrana Meléndez
Download or read book Caído del Cielo written by Samuel Pastrana Meléndez and published by Covenant Books, Inc.. This book was released on 2022-07-27 with total page 629 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

On behalf of IAMCR VIC-Visual Culture Working Group- I, Denize Araujo, PhD, thank Thomas Wiedemann, PhD, Vice-Chair and Curator of VIC CineClub, who selected five French films open for discussion, and also Roger Odin, PhD, Guest of Honor of this session of VIC CineClub, who sent comments about the film Muriel (Resnais, 1963). The E-Book Cinema/Cinéma Français/Cine Francés is VIC ́s proposal as an homage to Lyon, birth of cinéma and site of IAMCR Conference 2023. Appris Editor is the publisher and the publication counts with an International Scientific Committee and texts by researchers from eight countries, in the three official IAMCR idioms: English, French and Spanish, including Roger Odin ́s comments about the film Muriel (Resnais, 1963). The dates for the two sessions of the Workshop with the E-book authors are June 3 and 10 and the launch of it will be in Lyon, during IAMCR 2023 Conference online, from July 9 to 13. Trying to develop a multilevel dialog among the texts, I selected them according to their specific related themes and created three clusters: "filmmakers and their works"; "comparative film analyses"; and "interchanges between two countries". Four authors are included in the first cluster for sharing the same themes, two of them for discussing corporality and two for their focus on cinéma history and silent movies. Two authors share the second cluster for developing comparative analyses and three authors belong to the third cluster presenting interchanges between two countries.

Book Synopsis Ideología Construída by : Fernando Grasa
Download or read book Ideología Construída written by Fernando Grasa and published by Actar D, Inc.. This book was released on 2022-06-01 with total page 570 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Within the Mediterranean construction tradition, sacred architecture has always played a very prominent role, giving rise to the most numerous and best preserved historical buildings prior to the 18th century that have survived. Throughout 5,000 years the visual plot has been shown as the systematic alphabet that Mediterranean cultures have used to write multiple architectural accounts of a sacred and ceremonial nature. We will begin this memory — a true travel notebook — by presenting what the Christian temples of discipline have taught us. Then we travel to Egypt, Rome and finally to Malta and Gozo. The systematicity and similarities in the crystallization of the ideological discourse were incredible and we invite the reader to verify those teachings. To facilitate this, the text includes more than 360 sketches and 300 images of more than 200 buildings belonging to 17 countries.

Book Synopsis Latin America's New Historical Novel by : Seymour Menton
Download or read book Latin America's New Historical Novel written by Seymour Menton and published by University of Texas Press. This book was released on 1993-01-01 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Beginning with the 1979 publication of Alejo Carpentier's El arpa y la sombra, the New Historical Novel has become the dominant genre within Latin American fiction. In this at-times tongue-in-cheek postmodern study, Seymour Menton explores why the New Historical Novel has achieved such popularity and offers discerning readings of numerous works. Menton argues persuasively that the proximity of the Columbus Quincentennial triggered the rise of the New Historical Novel. After defining the historical novel in general, he identifies the distinguishing features of the New Historical Novel. Individual chapters delve deeply into such major works as Mario Vargas Llosa's La guerra del fin del mundo, Abel Posse's Los perros del paraiso, Gabriel Garcia Marquez's El general en su laberinto, and Carlos Fuentes' La campana. A chapter on the Jewish Latin American novel focuses on several works that deserve greater recognition, such as Pedro Orgambide's Aventuras de Edmund Ziller en tierras del Nuevo Mundo, Moacyr Scliar's A estranha naao de Rafael Mendes, and Angelina Muniz's Tierra adentro.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
